Lucknow (UP), Apr 18 (ANI): Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate from Lucknow Parliamentary constituency Poonam Sinha held a massive road show on Thursday after filling her nomination. She was accompanied by Member of the Lok Sabha Dimple Yadav, Congress candidate from Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha. Poonam Sinha will fight the election against Rajnath Singh from Lucknow seat. Polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in 95 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 11 states and the union territory of Puducherry is underway.
Patna (Bihar), Apr 18 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday filed defamation suit against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court in Patna for his statement 'all thieves have Modi in their surnames'. Speaking to mediaperons, the senior BJP leader said, "I have filed a defamation case against congress president Rahul Gandhi. Under IPC 500, two years sentence to jail punishment is given in defamation case. In an affidavit, it has been stated that he had said that all Modi are thieves. Sentiments of all people with Modi title have been hurt. So we have asked Patna court to summon Rahul Gandhi and have trail on him. Sometimes he says "Chowkidar Chor Hai" and many people in Bihar are Chowkidar. There are lakhs of people who have title Modi and so I have filed my case."
Buldhana (Maharashtra), Apr 18 (ANI): Rising above disability! Specially-abled staff managed a polling booth in Maharashtra's Buldhana. This polling booth number 193 is attracting and motivating voters to participate in the biggest festival of democracy. According to the Presiding officer, "This booth is being managed by specially-abled staff only. I appeal to all specially-abled persons to cast their votes to strengthen democracy." Voting for ten Parliamentary constituencies is underway in Maharashtra.
Srinagar (J-K), Apr 18(ANI): After casting vote in Srinagar, former J-K chief minister Omar Abdullah said now that Lok Sabha polls are concluding the Centre along with Election Commission must give people of Jammu and Kashmir an elected government. Abdullah said, "In context to Kashmir these elections have been different from the by elections of 2017 that Farooq Abdullah won. In 2017 we barely manage 1 or 2 public meetings outdoors. All our election meetings were confined to closed rooms. Thankfully, in this election, we found the electorates far more receptive in terms of campaigning. We had good environment in north, south and central Kashmir and hope government of India will give opportunity to choose electorate government. They are now running out of excuses of delaying assembly elections which was delayed due t Parliament. Now that LS polls are due to conclude, we can only hope that Centre together with EC gives people of J-K an elected govt which is their right."
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 18 (ANI): Amid the Lok Sabha elections, Poonam Sinha, wife of Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha filed her nomination today. Poonam Sinha is the SP-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)-Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate for Lucknow Parliamentary seat. She will be contesting polls against Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. She joined Samajwadi Party on April 16.
Sultanpur (UP), Apr 18 (ANI): Union Minister for Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi filed her nomination for Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat today. Before filing her nominations, the leader also conducted a roadshow. Speaking to ANI before filing her nomination, Maneka said, "PM Modi's developmental works will trump SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh. Development works will continue in Sultanpur."

Raiganj (WB), Apr 18 (ANI): A clash erupted between police and locals near a polling station in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district. The clash started when the locals allegedly tried to block highway after unknown miscreants prevented them from casting their votes. To disperse the mob, security personnel lobbed tear gas shells. Voting is underway for three Parliamentary constituency in West Bengal.
Srinagar, Doda, Udhampur (J and K) Apr 18 (ANI) - Parts of Srinagar faced shutdown on the second phase of Lok Sabha polls today. Several shops were seen shut in Srinagar. Security has been beefed up for smooth elections. Amid shutdown, voting is underway at polling stations. Voting for Udhampur and Srinagar Lok Sabha seats are underway in J and K. "Voting is happening peacefully since morning, but turn up is less", said Javed Akhtar, Presiding Officer of booth number 27 in old Srinagar.

Women in 'burkhas' are not being checked for their identity. I heard a man wearing 'burkha' was also caught."
Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Apr 18 (ANI): Two Naxals including one who was involved in the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Bhima Mandavi and five police personnel were killed in an encounter with District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada. They were gunned down in forest range. Speaking to ANI on this matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dantewada Abhishek Pallava said, "They had come to install Improvised explosive device (IEDs) with the intention of executing a major operation. So this (encounter) is a major achievement. Weapons have been recovered."
Perambalur, Karur (TN), Apr 18 (ANI): Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel helped elderly people at polling stations during the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha election in Tamil Nadu's Karur and Perambalur. The ITBP personnel assisted the elderly people and guided them towards polling stations. Voting for the 2nd phase of general election is underway. 11 states and 1 union territory are voting to elect representatives on 95 seats.
