Odisha celebrates New Year Maha Vishuva Sankranti

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Apr 15 (ANI): The people of Odisha on Sunday celebrated Maha Vishuva Sankranti and the Odia New Year by exchanging greetings and offering pujas in temples across the State. The festival marks the introduction of new Panjika, which is an almanac of Hindu religious festivals, timings and predictions for the year. The devotees with the earthen pot filled with sacred water then used to walk on the burning wood charcoal. They wear picturesque costumes and dance bare footed over burning charcoals which is a part of the ritual during the festival. While speaking to ANI, a devotee said, "Today is the new year of Odia, devotees walk on burning charcoal and after taking bath devotees enter in to the temple." Maha Vishuva Sankranti is the first day of the Odia calendar and also marks the end of spring and beginning of summer.

2 arrested for smuggling liquor in UP's Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr (UP) Apr 15 (ANI): The police here on Sunday arrested two persons while allegedly smuggling 578 cartons of foreign liquor worth Rs 52 lakh in a truck. This comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the Bulandshahr Parliamentary seat. The constituency will go for polls in the second phase of ongoing general elections, on April 18.

Public should seek medical help if they suspect rabies exposure: Study

New Delhi, Apr 15 (ANI): A new research has highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the rising risks of rabies and advised to seek medical treatment on time. People wait an average of 10 days before seeking medical advice following exposure to potentially rabid animals overseas, according to the study. The study was discussed in the meeting ECCMID 2019 and was presented this year at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in April, which states that the average delay in seeking treatment following bat exposures in the UK was almost three days.

Watch: Bouncers thrashed family of a patient in AIIMS Trauma Centre

New Delhi, Apr 15 (ANI): Kins of patient was attacked by the bouncers and mercilessly beaten up with sticks. The incident happened in the AIIMS Trauma Centre at around 3 pm on Sunday afternoon. Messenger may be finally coming back to Facebook

New Delhi, Apr 15 (ANI): Messenger has been one of the troubled Facebook kids and it might be coming back home. The company has been spotted testing the return of Messenger in the main Facebook app. Security researcher Jane Manchun Wong posted screenshots of the upcoming integration in action. The new section, called 'Chats' appears to include only the basic chat functionalities. To give reactions, make a call, send photos, and more, you are still required to open the Messenger app, Fast Company reported.
