Doctor allegedly assaulted by patient at Lok Nayak hospital

New Delhi, Apr 15 (ANI): Delhi's Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that an FIR has been registered against the person who displayed indecent behaviour towards a female doctor at Lok Nayak Hospital. "It is not a case of assault but of indecent behaviour. An FIR is being registered. After treatment the patient will be handed over to police. We have increased the security in hospitals," said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. A female doctor was allegedly assaulted by patients at Lok Nayak Hospital, who is treating COVID-19 patients. The incident happened on April 14 inside surgical ward.

Gorakhpur officials create online portal to deliver essentials at home

Gorakhpur (UP), Apr 15 (ANI): Essential commodities are being provided to people at home through online service in UP's Gorakhpur to restrict movement of people outside. The step has been taken keeping in mind the current coronavirus situation. "If we will provide essential commodities to people, then they will not come outside. We connected with local youth and created online portal. Every order is delivered without any delivery charges," said Gaurav Sogarwal, Joint Magistrate Gorakhpur.

2 civilians injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in JandK's Rajouri

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), Apr 15 (ANI): At least two civilians got injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Rajouri's Manjakote sector on April 15. The injured have been shifted to Government Medical College for treatment. While talking to ANI, Government Medical College's Medical Officer, Doctor Shikha said, "One of the patient got fracture in hand, however, both patients are in stable condition now." Two houses also got damaged in the shelling.

Houseboats converted to COVID-19 isolation wards in Kerala

Alappuzha (Kerala), Apr 15 (ANI): In a move to quickly combat coronavirus disease, Alappuzha district administration is using all available resources. Famous houseboats in backwaters were converted into isolation wards to admit COVID-19 patients. Adding the houseboats together, the administration would be able to increase bed strength by 2000. "The Alappuzha district administration has given priority to planning and prevention. As part of it in first phase of COVID-19 we were able to keep down the COVID 19 cases. In second phase, if any need arises houseboats can be converted into isolation wards. The Houseboat Owners Association has agreed to the request," M Anjana, District Collector said. Out of 387 positive COVID-19 patients, 211 patients have been cured so far in Kerala.

Equity indices up by 2.5 pc in early trade, pharma and FMCG gain

New Delhi, April 15 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices moved up during early hours on April 15 following positive cues from global markets. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 758 points or 2.56 per cent at 31,448 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 222 points at 9,216. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty pharma gaining by 3.76 per cent, FMCG by 2.6 per cent, PSU bank by 2.3 per cent and realty by 1.9 per cent. Among stocks, chemical major UPL gained by 10 per cent to Rs 357.40 per share. Hindalco was up by 4.8 per cent, Sun Pharma by 4.7 per cent, Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank by 4.7 per cent and 4.2 per cent respectively. The other major gainers were Britannia, Hindustan Lever, Larsen and Toubro and Grasim. However, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Infratel, Bajaj Finance and Maruti traded with a negative bias.

DRDO develops COVID-19 sample collection booth

Pune (Maharashtra), Apr 15 (ANI): DRDO developed a chamber designed and built in manner to avoid direct contact with COVID-19 patient. COVSACK (COVID Sample Collection Kiosk) which can disinfect automatically was designed for health care workers. The shielding screen of kiosk cabin protects health care workers from aerosols of patients while taking sample. It also minimises the use of PPE for each sample taken.

COVID-19 lockdown: Delhi adds more containment zones, count reaches 55

New Delhi, Apr 15 (ANI): To curb the increasing number of pandemic coronavirus cases, Delhi government has turned 55 areas of national capital into containment zones. One of those containment zones, Chirag Delhi's Jain Mohalla residents were seen following lockdown norms. Residents were seen wearing face masks and following the social-distancing. The vegetable vendor in the area has also adopted all precaution measures. Several houses turned into quarantine in the area. The complete lockdown entails that no residents, except essential workers, are allowed to go in or out of the zone. The essential commodities are supplied at the doorstep by the government. However, action will be taken against those who violate guidelines like not maintaining social-distancing. A total number of 1510 positive cases of COVID -19 have been reported in the national capital so far and 28 people lost their lives due to the deadly virus.

COVID19: Mumbai Police detains a man over Bandra migrant worker incident

Mumbai, Apr 15 (ANI): The Mumbai Police has detained Vinay Dubey, who allegedly set off rumours that led to hundreds of migrants flooding the Bandra West area. The accused was detained in Airoli on Tuesday (April 14). The police suspect Vinay Dubey's social media messages contributed to the protest by more than 1,000 migrant workers, most of them from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, near suburban Bandra railway station. Amid coronavirus lockdown, a large group of migrant labourers gathered in Mumbai's Bandra, seeking for permission to return to their native states on April 14. Later, they were dispersed after police and local leaders intervened and asked them to vacate the place. A total of 2337 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Maharashtra, which is highest in any Indian state.

Haryana man ties knot with Mexican national amid coronavirus lockdown

Rohtak (Haryana), Apr 15 (ANI): Niranjan Kashyap from Rohtak married Dana, a Mexican national on April 13 under the Special Marriage Act amid coronavirus lockdown. Niranjan said, "We met through a language learning app. Dana and her mother came to India on 11th February for the wedding." "On Feb 17 we applied for marriage under Special Marriage Act which has 30-day notice. The notice was to end on Mar18 but lockdown started on Mar 19 so we couldn't get married. We submitted an application to District Collector after which he conducted our wedding," he further added.

Police stop 40 migrant workers leaving Telangana on foot, assure help during lockdown

Hyderabad (Telangana), April 15 (ANI): Police stopped around 40 migrant labourers, who had set off on foot for their native place in Madhya Pradesh and assured to take care of their shelter and other needs during the extended lockdown phase. The 40 migrant labourers, who are daily wagers from Madhya Pradesh said they had come to work on the promises of contractor and were staying near Golkonda Fort area in Hyderabad. While they had stayed back despite facing hardships during the first phase of the lockdown, the Centre's announcement of extending it further to May 3 had led them to take the decision of attempting to reach their native place on foot. The 21-day nationwide lockdown, which was to end on Tuesday, has been extended till May 3.

50 members of circus company get stuck in North 24 Parganas amid lockdown
