Alappuzha administration harnessing advanced tech to monitor COVID-19 situation

Alappuzha (Kerala), Apr 12 (ANI): From geo mapping to use of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system for patients surveillance, the Alappuzha district of Kerala is one step ahead in their attempts to control the outbreak of COVID-19 by being technologically savvy. COVID-19 cell has been set up at Alappuzha District Collectorate to monitor quarantine compliance by possibly infected people in real time and their health conditions. It is done through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System. While speaking to ANI, the District Collector of Alappuzha, M Anjana said, "In our COVID control room, we use technology to reach out to large number of people to provide them medical advice and assistance. Even in the case of community transmission of COVID-19, this cell can operate from remote areas." Geo mapping is used with assistance from Google to locate and shift patients to isolation wards. Everyone being screened in 33 containment zones: Health Minister Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Informing about the precautions being taken at containment zones to restrict further spread of coronavirus, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on April 12 asserted that special attention is being paid at the zones and each individual in houses located at containment zones is being screened. "Special attention is being paid to the 33 areas which are sealed. Most importantly every individual in all houses is being screened. If someone is even a little symptomatic, they're being tested to see that they don't spread the infection," said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Positive cases in Delhi have surpassed 1000 in Delhi.

COVID-19 lockdown: Cop's hand cut-off in attack by 'Nihangs' in Patiala

Patiala (Punjab), Apr 12 (ANI): Punjab Police ASI Harjeet Singh's hand was cut-off in an attack by a group of 'Nihangs' at Sabzi Mandi, in Patiala today. Other policemen also got injured. Pakistan using quarantine excuse to lockup lawyers in Gilgit

Depression cases relapsing due to COVID-19 situation: Ganga Ram Hospital's psychiatrist

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Speaking about the psychological impact due to coronavirus, Sri Ganga Ram Hospital's psychiatrist, Dr Rajiv Mehta stated that anxiety plays a vital role in health. "Most of the problem is coming with the persons who have been previously depressed and anxious. Even if a small amount of cough occurs, they get further more anxious. Basically depression is coming back, in the previously ill person, although who have been stable are again relapsing," said psychiatrist, Dr Rajiv Mehta. "Depression, anxiety is increasing with the situation that prevails today. The most affected are the ones who are already getting treatment," he further added.

Mumbai, Apr 12 (ANI): Low vehicular movement was seen at the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai on April 12 amid nation-wide coronavirus lockdown. Dairy farmers facing losses amid lockdown in Maharashtra's Nashik

Nashik (Maharashtra), Apr 09 (ANI): The dairy farmers in Maharashtra's Nashik are facing losses due to the lockdown. Nationwide lockdown has been imposed in backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak. Milk price dipped to almost half amid pandemic and farmers are forced to sell the milk at low prices. While speaking to ANI, one of the farmers said, "We used to sell milk at Rs 50-55 per kg, now we have to sell it at Rs 30-35 per kg. The demand is low as hotels and tea stalls are closed. Drive-through COVID-19 testing facility launched in Gurugram

Gurugram (Haryana), Apr 12 (ANI): A drive-through sample collection centre has been set up in Haryana's Gurugram to ease COVID-19 tests. This initiative was started by Healthians lab on April 11 along with Municipal Corporation of Gurugram. Any person can apply for COVID-19 test by filling their details online. The facility has been established in collaboration with the Healthians testing group at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. While speaking to ANI, the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Vinay Pratap Singh said, "One can apply for the test by filling details online. The patient can drive on own or can be accompanied by another person." "It takes about 1-2 minute to collect nasal or throat swab and the reports will be given online. It is compulsory for those who want to be tested for COVID-19 to obtain a prescription from a registered medical practitioner," he added. COVID-19: Delhiites violate 'social distancing' norm at Azadpur Mandi

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Massive crowd was seen at a vegetable market in Delhi on April 12 amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Delhiites were seen violating norms of social distancing while purchasing vegetables. 'Donation on Wheels' ensures no one sleeps empty stomach in Raipur

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Apr 12(ANI):Chhattisgarh Government and Raipur Municipal Corporation provided food to the needy through 'Donation on Wheels' scheme. The aim of this scheme is to ensure that no one sleeps empty stomach in the city. Through 'Donation on Wheels', Chhattisgarh government and Raipur Municipal Corporation collected raw food from people who are capable enough to donate. "We had not expected that people of Raipur will donate this much. People who are not able to provide raw food packets due to any reason, we have asked them to donate value of one packet, i.e, Rs. 350. We will purchase ration of that amount and give them the bill," said CEO of Zila Panchayat, Gaurav Singh. On April 11, Bal Gopal Hospital of Raipur donated 200 packets of raw food in 'Donation on Wheels.' The Hospital provides free food.
