Those who lost house in violence will get Rs 25,000 cash tomorrow: Delhi CM Kejriwal

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Delhi government will provide Rs 25,000 cash each who lost their house in North-Delhi violence. The government also made arrangements for accommodation at nine 'Rain Baseras' and local community centers for people whose houses are completely burnt down or those who can't go back to their home."We've made arrangements for accommodation at our 9 Rain Baseras and local community centers for people whose houses are completely burnt down or those who can't go back to their home. If needed, we'll also arrange temporary tents for people," said Arvind Kejriwal while addressing press conference in New Delhi. "People whose houses are completely burnt down or substantially burnt down will be given on spot ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 cash each from tomorrow (February 29) afternoon. Balance amount will be assessed within 2-3 days by PWD department and we'll make an effort to get them their balance cheque," CM Further said.

Delhi violence: Need to restore confidence among people, says Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Congress' senior leader Salman Khurshid reacted over North-East Delhi violence. He said that right now, we need to stop talking about who is to blame, our first responsibility is to restore confidence among people. "I think right now adding to the fire by screaming at each other is frankly not the answer. First responsibility is to bring about human aid and make sure that wherever there is fire, it is doused quickly and effectively as possible," Salman Khurshid further said.

Forensic team reaches Chand Bagh to investigate IB officer's murder

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Forensic team on February 28 visited North-East Delhi's Chand Bagh area and inspected the spot where the body of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma was found on Feb 26. An FIR has been lodged in the death of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma's death whose body was recovered from a drain in Chand Bagh on February 26 during the communal violence in the North-East Delhi. The victim's father, Ravinder Kumar, on whose complaint the FIR was lodged, has named Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) municipal councillor Tahir Hussain as an accused. At least 42 people, including a police head constable, died while around 200 people sustained serious injuries in the violence that raged for three days in parts of the national capital. Two Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been constituted under the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, to investigate the violence.

2 labourers dead after wall collapses in Karnataka

Mangalore (Karnataka), Feb 28 (ANI): At least two labourers died and one other got injured after a wall of a compound collapsed on Feb 28. The incident happened in Karnataka's Mangalore. Few workers are feared to be trapped under debris. Rescue operations are underway.

Student visits school after violence in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): A student named Arman Malik, on February 28 visited his school in Shiv Vihar and saw the aftermath of violence. The Rajdhani Public Senior Secondary School was allegedly attacked by the mob on February 25. By seeing condition of his school, Arman felt really bad and shared his emotions that he got scared. The school where Arman played and studied with the his fellow schoolmates is now in a very bad condition, the books were tear apart, the science projects of students were vandalised. Rajdhani Public Senior Secondary School will be opened for students from February 29. At least 42 people, including a police head constable, died while around 200 people sustained serious injuries in the violence that raged for three days in parts of the national capital. Delhi violence: Head Constable explains how he controlled Shahrukh, man who pointed gun at him

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Head Constable Deepak Dahiya on Friday expressed whole scenario on how he controlled Shahrukh, the man who opened fire on Feb 24 during the violent clashes over Citizenship Act in North-East Delhi. He said, "Suddenly the mob turned violent. I saw a man running towards me I warned him but he fired one shot in my right and get back. He could also have fired on me but I showed my stick to him and warned him." At least 42 people have died and around 200 people sustained serious injuries in the violence.

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee on February 28 distributed food to people in Shiv Vihar area in North-East Delhi which witnessed violence in recent days. Balakot air strike anniversary: We'll no longer tolerate terrorism, says Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Indian Air Force Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal, Harjit Singh Arora said that Balakot air strike was very clear and unambiguous message that we'll no longer tolerate terrorism. While talking on Pakistan's nuclear threat to India, Vice Chief Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora said, "Pakistan can keep talking about nuclear retaliation and its capability. We also possess a similar capability. As far as their terror factories are concerned, they are no longer safe anywhere across the border. We have the will, capability and the political support to go across and strike them at their roots." On February 26, 2019, Indian Air Force's Mirage-2000 fighter jets took off from airbases across India. Special CP SN Shrivastava gets additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SN Shrivastava has been given the additional charge of the post of Commissioner of Police."With the approval of the competent authority, SN Shrivastava, presently posted with Delhi Police, as Special Commissioner of Police, is hereby given the additional charge of the post of the Commissioner of Police, Delhi w.e.f. 01.03.2020 and until further orders," read an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The senior Indian Police Service officer was recently appointed as the Special Commissioner (Law and Order) of Delhi Police. Earlier, Srivastava headed the elite Special Cell of Delhi Police. The directive comes close on the heels of the national capital witnessing violence in parts of North-East district. At least, 38 people were killed and 200 people were seriously injured in the violence.

Friday namaz offered peacefully in Delhi

Northeast violence: FSL team collects evidences from Delhi's Chand Bagh

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): A team of Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected evidences from Chand Bagh area of the national capital on February 28. They have collected several evidences from the roads. FSL team also visited municipal councillor Tahir Hussain's factory in Chand Bagh area. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suspended him from its primary membership on February 27. On the other side, a team of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is cleaning roads in Kabir Nagar area of Babarpur ahead of Friday prayers. They are collecting stones, which were pelted by mob during violence.

No violence reported in last 60 hours: Delhi Police Special Commissioner

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Special Commissioner (Law and Order) of Delhi Police SN Shrivastava visited Seelampur area of Delhi on February 28. "No violence has been reported in last 60 hours. We have arranged everything properly for the Friday prayers. Our team worked really well to bring out the normalcy and after their interaction, we got to know that people want peace," said Special Commissioner (Law and Order). On action against Municipal Councillor Tahir Hussain, SN Shrivastava said, "We are trying to bring every culprit to justice and we are working on it." No violence is reported in the area as of now.

Toll from coronavirus mounts to 2,788 in China

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): The death toll from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in mainland China mounted to 2,788 on Friday, officials said. The number of confirmed cases has increased to 78,824, the state health committee said. "The state health committee received from 31 provinces (areas, cities of central subordination) information about 78,824 confirmed cases of infection with the new type of coronavirus, including 39,919 people who are currently sick (7,952 are in serious condition), 36,117 people were discharged from hospitals, 2,788 died," the committee said.
