Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Dec 01 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Dehradun on November 30, the spokesperson of Jammu - Kashmir Students Association, Nasir Khuehami said, "After the abrogation of Article 370, there was total clamp down in the Kashmir Valley so some students were stuck at home and couldn't report at their colleges on time." "Thereafter, colleges and universities imposed late fine on Kashmiri students. Penalising them is not justified. This is harassment," he added. New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): A layer of smog blanket Delhi on December 01. Additionally, the air quality of national capital also took a major hit due to a combination of firecracker emissions, stubble burning and unfavourable meteorological conditions in past one month. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data and System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), major pollutants in Delhi's Lodhi Road area were PM 2.5 at 120 and PM 10 at 123 both in 'moderate' category. Higher value of AQI indicates greater level of air pollution and health concern. Residents are feeling better now but still hoping more improvement in respiratory problems, allergies and other health issues. On November 01, the Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) declared public health emergency in Delhi due to rising air pollution levels.
Kalahandi (Odisha), Dec 01 (ANI): Three minor girls were charred to death on November 30 in Odisha's Kalahandi district. The incident occurred while they were playing near a haystack that caught fire at Bijamara village in Kalahandi district. The deceased minors have been identified as twins Deizy, Rosy and Rachana Rout, all aged between four to five years. Soon after the incidents, they were rushed to Koksara Community Health Centre by the locals. However, they had sustained around 80 to 90 per cent burn injuries. They were then referred to Bhawanipatana district headquarters hospital as their condition worsened. One of them died on the way to the hospital while two others breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Bhawanipatana Hospital. While speaking to ANI, Dr Narayan De of Bhawanipatana Hospital said, "One of them was arrived dead while two others, who had sustained around 80 to 90 per cent of burn injuries. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 01 (ANI): The Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh Prabhuram Chaudhari has decided to take strict actions towards those teachers who failed in the exam conducted by the Department to test their ability. In press conference, Prabhuram said, "We gave retirement to 16 teachers under 20-50 formula, 2 teachers are under review. This is not a punishment but a rule that whoever, be it teacher or clerk who is not able to give his/her service, can be given retirement." He further said, "We took action against a total of 84 teachers to provide quality education for the children of Madhya Pradesh." Teachers who didn't fall into 20-50 formula are those who have not served for 20 years and are younger than 50 years.
New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Chemotherapy, which is a saviour for many cancer patients, is a painful treatment to undergo following which many patients quit it midways. But researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have developed a method that delivers chemotherapy drugs directly to malignant cells and bypasses healthy ones. With this discovery, doctors aim to reduce chemo doses for patients, thereby reducing the unpleasant side-effects associated with the treatment. The findings were published in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology. The study focused on the selective expression of the TRPV2 protein by cancer cells. When activated, TRPV2 protein opens a canal inside cell membranes. Researchers studied liver cancer cells and were able to successfully insert a low dose of doxorubicin, a chemotherapeutic agent, through the canal and directly into cancer cells. New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Scientists have reportedly discovered a new tool that could help with coral reef restoration efforts. A team of researchers and marine biologists set up underwater loudspeakers to play recorded sounds of healthy reefs as an experiment to lure young fish to swim in areas where the coral had degraded, Cnet reports. The six-week experiment found that by playing healthy reef sound, the total number of fish arriving in the degraded coral areas doubled and also increased the number of species by 50 per cent.

Due to hike in the price of onions, budget hotels have reduced the usage of onions in the preparation of food. Speaking to ANI, a customer said, "The usage have of onions have been reduced in several restaurants due to fee hike. Even if want to eat onion Dosa we have to pay extra for it." "This is a matter of concern for all hoteliers; many small restaurants cannot use onions at this rate. So they have stopped using onions," said a hotelier in Bengaluru.

Palamu (Jharkhand), Nov 30 (ANI): A clash broke out between BJP and Congress candidates in Jharkhand's Palamu on November 30. Congress candidate KN Tripathi brandished a gun during the clash. Tripathi was allegedly stopped by BJP candidate's supporters from going to polling booths in Kosiyara village of Palamu. The first phase of polling in 13 constituencies is underway in Jharkhand.
