Rajnath Singh meets INA Retd Major Ishwar Lal in Singapore

Singapore, Nov 19 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute at Indian National Army (INA) Memorial in Singapore on November 19. He also met former INA Major (Retd.) Ishwar Lal. Rajnath Singh is on a two-day visit to Singapore. Singh is likely to attend India-Singapore Defence Ministers' Dialogue. Erstwhile Indian National Army was led by freedon fighter Subhas Chandra Bose.

Sakhi Mandal successfully operating pay and park service in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Nov 19 (ANI): An initiative has been started by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to empower the women of the Sakhi Mandals. The initiative focuses for empowerment of women so they can earn money on their own. AMC has given authority to Sakhi Mandals to operate at several pay and park locations in the city. Where, the ladies of Sakhi Mandal charge people for parking place. Talking to ANI, Prabha Makwana who manages one of the pay and park facilities in the city said, "We manage parking facility under income tax bridge. When, people park their vehicle they have to pay for that. Earlier, it was quite difficult we faced problems as people would park their vehicles here and there. So, we faced difficulties in the initial days. But, now we are working efficiently and getting amount which helps us for our day to day need." The women at the facility work in 2 shifts a day. The ladies in the Sakhi Mandals are underprivileged women of the society.

PMC account holders protest outside Bombay HC

Mumbai, Nov 19 (ANI): Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank depositors staged a protest outside Bombay High Court on November 19. They demanded the money to be refunded as soon as possible. Hearing in PMC Bank matter has been adjourned till December 4 after RBI today filed a detailed affidavit regarding steps to be taken for protecting interest of customers. RBI restricted the activities of the PMC Bank for six months and asked it not to grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment or incur any liability, including borrowing of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits after an alleged fraud of Rs 4,355 crore came to light. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized and identified movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 3,830 crore owned by HDIL in connection with the case.

Gilgit Baltistan, 19 November 2019:- Farmers in Thor region of Gilgit Baltistan are reeling under abject poverty because of Islamabad's exploitative policies. The indigenous people in the occupied territory, whose only means of subsistence is farming, are no more in possession of any land as Pakistan is building dams on it. They were provided with alternate piece of land, which were either inhabitable or hundreds of miles away from their original homes. A meager sum of thousands has been given as compensation against the land worth lakhs.

GOI has financially supported setting up of anti-trafficking units across country: Smriti Irani

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani, attended South Asia Safety Summit by Facebook and Instagram. While addressing at the event Smriti Irani stated that Government of India has supported setting up of anti-trafficking units in each district. Smriti Irani said, "Given the challenges women face with regards to safety and security, I would like here to pay my respects and grateful thanks to the home ministry for partnering with us and helping in bringing solutions to timely." "I would like to acknowledge that we have put forth a proposal to the govt agencies to ensure that we have anti trafficking units to help better in protecting the women and children of our country. The government of India has financially supported the setting up of anti trafficking units in every district of our country, the first ever such initiative in the history of our independence," she added.

Girl child stopped from entering into Sabarimala Temple

Pamba (Kerala), Nov 19 (ANI): A 12-year-old girl was stopped by Kerala Police from entering into Sabarimala Temple. The girl was stopped at a guard room during trek. She broke down in tears after being stopped. Kerala Government announced that they will not provide any special security to feminist groups after Supreme Court referred review petition to a larger bench. Last year, apex court allowed women of all age groups to enter the temple.

Fathima suicide case: IIT students continue protest for fair investigation

Chennai, Nov 19 (ANI): More IIT students joined the protest ad raised their voice, demanding justice in Fathima Lateef suicide case. Fathima Lateef committed suicide allegedly over religious persecution. The deceased's parents recovered a mobile phone note that named a member of the faculty as the reason behind her suicide. Chennai Police transferred the case to Central Crime Branch (CCB). Police began preliminary investigation. The first year student of an integrated MA programme in the humanities was found dead in her hostel room. Two IIT students also began hunger strike demanding fair investigation into the case.

Telecom stocks gain as equity indices remain flat, Vodafone up by 18 pc

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices gained marginally during early hours on Tuesday as investors remained cautious in the absence of any major positive triggers on the domestic and global front. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was up by 52 points at 40,336 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 11 points to 11,895. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty auto, financial service, FMCG, metal, PSU bank and realty in the red. But Nifty pharma, IT and private bank were in the positive zone. Among stocks, telecom majors continued their northward journey after announcing tariff hikes from next month. Vodafone India gained by 18.12 per cent to Rs 5.28 per share while Bharti Airtel was up by 4.4 per cent and Bharti Infratel by 5.6 per cent. The other prominent gainers were Cipla, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, Grasim and Larsen and Toubro.
