New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott said that India has come a long way from being introspective to having its voice heard much widely on the world stage today under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Being asked about his views on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Tony Abbott said, "I think it is a long time since India has been effective at world stage as it is currently under Prime Minister Modi. I think for a long time, India was fairly introspective. Yes, it was colossus of subcontinent, but beyond it's own region, India tended to take a pretty low key approach to things. I think in an uplifting, decent and humane way, PM Modi is making India's voice much more widely felt around the world". Abbott also said that India has all the credentials to be permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Incumbent telecom operators Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, bruised by fierce competition to keep prices low, will hike tariffs starting December 1, the companies said in a surprise announcement on Monday. The first telecom tariff hike in several years follows record second-quarter losses reported by the two operators. The telcos, however, did not provide any guidance on the amount of the hike or the subscriber segments to be impacted by the move. Analysts see the hikes as a positive for the sector, which has only witnessed tariff cuts since the launch of Reliance Jio in September 2016.
New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): The air quality of Delhi remains in 'unhealthy' category on November 19. The Air Quality Index (AQI) at the Lodhi Road area showed no improvement in the air quality. The PM 2.5 was recorded at 135 while PM 10 was at 145 which fall into unhealthy category. Hazy sky was witnessed in several parts of the national capital.

It came in light during the local body election. This man used to call him 'chowkidaar' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier but due to unemployment and no help from the government, he took this step.
New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Congress leaders paid tribute to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary on November 19. Today marks 102nd birth anniversary of late Indira Gandhi. She was given the title of 'Iron Lady'. Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid tribute to her. Digvijay Singh, Hamid Ansari were few of the prominent leaders to late Indira Gandhi. Former PM Manmohan Singh and former president Pranab Mukherjee also came in at 'Shanti Sthal'. She was assassinated on October 31, 1984. She was shot dead by one of her bodyguards. She served as Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984.
Siliguri (WB), Nov 19 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Siliguri, West Bengal, Governor Jagdeep refuted the charges by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) that he was running a parallel government in West Bengal, and said, "Some kind of statement has been made, that I am running a parallel government in the state. If I was running a parallel government, then from the airport to circuit house (in Siliguri), I have seen huge cutouts of the chief minister; cutouts would have been mine. I dismiss the charge.
Kolkata, Nov 19 (ANI): Even though the Supreme Court passed the historic decision of decriminalising Section 377, a gay couple in Barasat region of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district is apparently receiving death threats from their family members and have sought police protection. "When I informed my family members that I am gay, they started beating me up and forced me to get married to a girl. But I didn't want to do it. My father threatened us... They even took me to a psychiatrist. When the psychiatrist said that I am gay, still they did not believe him," the male victim said.
Rajouri (J-K), Nov 19 (ANI): Construction work of roads has started in Jammu and Kashmir's Darhal of Rajouri district. The roads are being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The roads will provide connectivity in far-flung areas. Several villages in Rajouri district will be connected with highways. "We are happy to see the constriction of road is underway. Road will reduce our time and will also help in our business," a local told ANI.
Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 19 (ANI): BJP MLA Birendra Raghuvanshi from Madhya Pradesh on November 18 accused state's Law Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar of threatening him during a meeting after the former suggested that a medical college be named after Mahatma Gandhi instead of late Madhavrao Scindia, in Shivpuri. "I will write to Amit Shah ji asking for security. I was threatened, 'dekh loonga, zaban band karle'; ye bhasha mujhse boli gai, and only because I suggested Mahatma Gandhi ji's name. Only Pradhuman Tomar will be responsible for any danger to my family and me," Raghuvanshi told reporters. However, the accused MLA Tomar responded by saying, "I am not aware of any such incident. The decision to name the medical college after late Madhavrao Scindia was taken with consensus."

Users will be able to purchase one-month or three-month prepaid plans for YouTube Premium and Music Premium in India, the official blog notes. To sign-up for a prepaid plan, one can follow the sign-up instructions for a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership, and select the required plan. The users will also be able to purchase additional top-ups for their membership.
New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): As the researchers have discovered how the lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) progresses, they will now be able to provide a method to discover new treatment targets for the disease. In the study, researchers examined differentially affected regions in the lungs obtained from individuals with IPF and found that what looks like normal lung is already undergoing changes in specific genes. Fifty per cent of patients with IPF will die in three to five years following diagnosis, and the cause of IPF is unknown. The two FDA-approved drugs to treat IPF slow the progress of the disease, but do not reverse it.
New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): Six persons including four soldiers and two porters were killed in avalanche in the Siachen Glacier on November 18. An avalanche hit Army positions in the Siachen Glacier after which eight personnel were stuck under the snow. Seven individuals who were critically injured accompanied by medical teams were evacuated by helicopters to nearest Military Hospital. Six people who died in the avalanche succumbed to extreme hypothermia. Altitude in the northern glaciers is of around 19,000 feet and above.

Chennai, Nov 18 (ANI): In the latest development in the Fathima Lateef suicide case, two IIT students began hunger strike demanding fair investigation into the case. Fathima Lateef committed suicide allegedly over religious persecution. The deceased's parents recovered a mobile phone note that named a member of the faculty as the reason for her death. Chennai Police transferred the case to Central Crime Branch (CCB). Police began preliminary investigation. The first year student of an integrated MA programme in the humanities was found dead in her hostel room last week.
New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Several students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are marching towards Parliament in the national capital on November 18 over demand of complete roll back of fee hike. They were later stopped by police near Delhi's Safdarjung Tomb area. While speaking to ANI, Public Relations Office (PRO) of Delhi Police, Mandeep Singh Randhawa said, "We are trying to talk to the students about their demands and convince them to not take law in their hands. Regarding the allegation of lathi charge, we will inquire into it." Due to the protest, Section 144 has also been imposed near the Parliament and security has been beefed up.
