60-70 students of Jodhpur IIT tested positive for COVID-19

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Apr 05 (ANI): Around 60-70 students of Jodhpur IIT tested positive for COVID-19. Speaking on it, Deputy CMHO Dr. Pritam Singh Sankhala informed that Block G3 on campus declared a micro-containment zone. Most of positive students travelled from Chandigarh, Gujarat and Jaipur.

"The surveillance is to be intensified in containment zones. After 1 COVID case on a floor of multi-storey building, entire floor would be declared containment zone. If more than 1 floor comes under scrutiny, building to be turned containment zone," said DM Suhas LY.

Sukma encounter: CM Yogi announces ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakhs for family of Head Constable Raj Kumar Yadav

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), April 05 (ANI): Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has announced ex-gratia amount of Rs 50 lakhs for family of Head Constable Raj Kumar Yadav, who lost his life in Naxal attack at Sukma-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh, informed Ayodhya Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay to media persons on April 04. An encounter took place between Naxals and security forces in Junaguda village in Sukma district on April 03. In the deadly Naxals attack, at least 22 security personnel were killed, and around 32 sustained injuries in the encounter.

Covid surge: Punjab police, security guards distribute masks to people visiting Golden Temple

Amritsar (Punjab), April 05 (ANI): Amid the rising COVID-19 cases, Punjab police and security guards on April 04 distributed masks to people in Heritage Street leading to Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) on April 05. They were also seen creating awareness regarding the Covid-19 guidelines. Punjab has reported 3,019 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,51,460, while active cases reached at 25,314.

India exported hydroxychloroquine to over 150 nations: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, April 05 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on April 04 attended the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of Age Care India, held at India International Centre, Delhi. At the event, Vardhan said, "From single lab to test COVID-19 to over 2,000 labs across country now, India has come a long way. We exported hydroxychloroquine to over 150 nations. While 7.5 cr doses been administered in India, over 6.5 cr doses sent to other countries."

Mumbai reports over 11k cases in 24 hours

New Delhi, Apr 04 (ANI): Mumbai reported 11,163 new COVID-19 cases and 5263 recoveries in last 24 hours. A total of 25 deaths were also recorded in the same period. With the fresh cases, tally reached 4,52,445, with 68,052 active cases.

Sukma encounter: 'Bodies of 22 jawans recovered,' informs Bastar IG

Jagdalpur (Chhattishgarh), Apr 04 (ANI): In the latest update on Sukma encounter, Bastar Inspector General P Sundarraj informed that bodies of 22 jawans have been recovered and 31 are injured. He said that search for one missing Cobra jawan is on. "Treatment of 31 jawans is underway at a hospital in Raipur and they are out of danger," he said. An encounter took place between Naxals and security forces in Junaguda village in Sukma district on April 03. As per inputs 12 Naxals have been gunned down during encounter, he informed.

Sachin Tendulkar hospitalised days after testing COVID positive

New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar got hospitalised on April 02. He was tested COVID-19 positive on March 27. Sachin informed about it on his Twitter handle and wrote, 'Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. French Navy's ships arrive Kochi port to participate in 'La Perouse' exercise

India reports 81,466 new COVID infections, highest in 2021

New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): COVID infections are breaking all records, cases continue to surge in India as the country reported 81,466 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. Country's total COVID caseload stood at 1,23,03,131. Around 50,356 patients were discharged and the recovery tally mounted to 1,15,25,039. 469 deaths were reported due to the virus in last 24 hours, which are highest in the last 5 months. According to Indian Council of Medical Research total of 24,59,12,587 samples have been tested for COVID-19. Union Health Ministry reported a total of 6,87,89,138 vaccinations have been done till date.

Growth in economy will sort issue: Tarun Bajaj on bringing petroleum products under GST

New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): Revenue and Department of Economic Affairs Secretary Tarun Bajaj on bringing petroleum products under GST said that this move involves interest of both state and centre. Tarun Bajaj said, "Till we get both parties together and bring a solution, we can't bring them under GST. It'll take some time, but with growth in the economy, the issue will be sorted out." Further citing International Monetary Fund, Bajaj said that country's growth rate will be between 11-11.5%. He said, "It also has to do with low base effect, hence economy will grow. World Bank has said that our growth rate will be between 7.5%-12%. We expect a better growth rate this year."
