COVID-19 lockdown: CRPF distributes food among needy in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Apr 22 (ANI): Troops of 51st Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force prepared food to distribute among the needy amid coronavirus lockdown. They distributed around 200 cooked food packets to labourers and migrants, residing in different areas in Chandigarh. The distribution of food was done in coordination with Chandigarh administration and police.

COVID-19 lockdown: Haryana Govt initiates helpline number to solve locals' grievances

Panchkula (Haryana), Apr 22 (ANI): Amid COVID-19 outbreak, Haryana government took a step for helping people who are in stress or want to inquire anything during lockdown. Around 55 agents have been hired to solve queries of the residents. The aim is to resolve queries of migrant workers, queries related to ration cards and doctor services. Approximately 900 doctors also volunteered in this initiative to help the needy. The Nodal Officer of Haryana Control Room, Vikas Gupta said, "Government of Haryana has established a call center for residents of Haryana to spread the information related to coronavirus as well as to address the grievances. This helpline number will work 24*7. We have handled more than 1,62,000 calls so far. This helpline will help those who will ask any help in terms of ration, movement, availability of medicines, etc. We immediately help them." 254 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Haryana as of now.

Police personnel conduct security checks at Delhi-Noida border amid COVID-19 outbreak

New Delhi, Apr 22 (ANI): Police conducted security checks at Delhi-Noida border on April 22. The traffic movement between Delhi and Noida has been completely closed by GautamBuddha Nagar administration as a preventive measure against COVID-19. Only those rendering essential services with valid passes are allowed to move. One of the police officials said, "Only those with passes, media personnel, doctors, sanitation workers and vehicles carrying fruits or vegetables are being allowed." 15474 active cases of coronavirus have been reported in India as of now.

New Delhi/Mumbai, Apr 22(ANI): Vegetable sellers request the government to shut the mandis for atleast a week. One of vegetable sellers of Azadpur Mandi said, "If the mandi is not shut down, then situation similar to Italy will be in Azadpur mandi that there will be no place for people to bury." After government lifted lockdown from Azadpur Sabzi Mandi in New Delhi and Byculla Sabji Mandi in Mumbai, people in huge numbers throng the market area sending social distancing norms for a toss.

Stringent action against culprits: Haryana DGP on cops attacked during lockdown

Panchkula (Haryana), Apr 22 (ANI): Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava reacted on cops in the state beaten up by locals amid COVID-19 lockdown. He said that such attacks will not be tolerated and police will take stringent action against it. "We have surplus grains stock of 539 lakh tonnes. There will no shortage in the near future. We have asked all State governments to distribute ration to the poor in their states. GOI has clearly said that no poor should go hungry," said Paswan.

Sensex tanks over 1000 points as US oil prices dip below zero dollar a barrel

Mumbai, Apr 21 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices plunged by over 3 per cent on Tuesday after US oil prices slipped below zero dollar a barrel in overnight trade and President Donald Trump announcement that he will sign an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration. Stopped rapid testing as accuracy turned out to be 5.4% against proposed 90%: Rajasthan Health Minister

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Apr 21 (ANI): Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma informed that the state has stopped coronavirus rapid testing after its accuracy turned out to 5.4% against proposed 90%. "We had received rapid testing kits from ICMR and it was used in Rajasthan. We formed a committee of the Head of our Microbiology Department and Head of our Medicine Dept to see if these tests are effective. Its accuracy was supposed to be 90% but it turned out to be 5.4%," said Sharma on rapid testing in Rajasthan.

35,852 samples tested on Apr 20, almost 4.5 lakh tests done so far: ICMR

New Delhi, Apr 21 (ANI): ICMR Scientist, Dr Raman R Gangakhedkar on April 21 said 4,49,810 samples have been tested so far. "35,852 samples were tested yesterday, of which 29,776 samples were tested in 201 Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) network labs and remaining 6,076 samples were tested in 86 private labs," he added.
