Cold wave, fog grip Kashmir Valley

Srinagar (J-K), Dec 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir is enveloped in thick layer of fog since few days. The valley is under cold wave's grip with freezing temperature. Normal lives have been affected. Burnt body of an unidentified man recovered from Govt school in Bhopal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 10 (ANI): Charred body of an unidentified person has been recovered from a Government school on Dec 10. Police reached the spot in Bhopal to investigate. While speaking on this incident, Bhopal DIG Irshad Wali said, "The body has been sent for post mortem. All facts will be ascertained on the basis of forensic and post mortem reports. Victim is a male."

Equity indices flat in early trading, IT stocks take a beating

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Equity indices languished in the negative terrain during early hours on Dec 10 as investors awaited the outcome of new European Central Bank (ECB) boss Christine Lagarde's first policy meeting later this week. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was down by 11 points to 40,476 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 6 points. Equity indices flat in early trading, IT stocks take a beating Asian equity markets points at 11,931. Most sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty IT down by 0.9 per cent. Among stocks, Tata Consultancy Services slipped by 1.3 per cent to Rs 2,033 per share.

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 10 (ANI): The Lok Sabha had passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 on December 09. While speaking on the same, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan said that the decision of Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 has been taken on the basis of strength. He said, "The number of Opposition is low so no matter how right Opposition is, no one will listen to them. But a good democracy says that ruling party should not only listen to the Opposition but also must agree to them, if they are right. The question on which the country is divided today was the same thing on which it was divided in 1947."

Anaj Mandi Fire: Fearing sealing, owners shutting down illegal factories

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Factory owners are now shutting down illegal factories after fire engulfed an illegal factory in Anaj Mandi on Dec 08 claiming 43 lives. Fearing sealing, people were seen carrying machineries and raw material on utility vehicles at midnight. Factory workers are worried about their employment.

Assam witnesses state-wide 'bandh' after LS passes CAB

Dibrugarh/Golaghat/Jorabat/Guwahati (Assam), Dec 10 (ANI): Shops were closed in Guwahati following a 12-hour 'bandh' call by North East Students' Organisation (NESO) and All Assam Students' Union (AASU) against Citizenship Amendment Bill which was passed in Lok Sabha on late night of December 09. On the other hand, All Assam Students' Union (AASU) held a protest in Dibrugarh against CAB. Several parts of Assam witnessed 'bandh' on the early morning of December 10.

Microsoft to end support for Windows 10 Mobile Office apps in 2021

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Microsoft will end its technical support for Windows 10 Mobile, and now the company has announced that it will also end support for the Mobile Office apps in 2021. According to Engadget, the Windows 10 Mobile Office apps will not receive any bug fixes, security updates or general technical support from January 12, 2021. Microsoft is advising users to move to the latest Microsoft Office apps on an iOS or Android phone. While the apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, will still work, users will not be able to install them on any new devices.

72-year-old tribal woman lives in toilet in Odisha's Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Dec 10 (ANI): A 72-year-old tribal woman in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district has been residing in a toilet for the last three years after failing to get accommodation from the state government. The woman identified as Draupadi Behera said that her whole family, including grandson and daughter, sleep outside while she cooks and sleeps inside the toilet which has been constructed by the Kanika village administration. She had, earlier, raked up the issue before the authorities following which they promised to provide her accommodation but she says she is still waiting for a house of her own. Sarpanch of the village, Budhuram Puty told ANI, "I have no power to construct a house for her. When the order to construct additional house comes through a scheme, I will provide one to her." Expressing anguish over the issue, Satya Mohanty, a human rights advocate urged the central and Odisha government to look into the matter.

Tendon stem cells can revolutionise injury recovery: Study

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): A new research has revealed the existence of tendon stem cells that can potentially be harnessed to improve tendon healing and even to avoid surgery. The research was led by Carnegie's Chen-Ming Fan and published in the journal of Nature Cell Biology. Fan explained, "Tendons are the connective tissue that tethers our muscles to our bones, they improve our stability and facilitate the transfer of force that allows us to move. But they are also particularly susceptible to injury and damage."

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): While speaking to media in the national capital on December 09, Union Law and Justice Minister and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad spoke on Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). He said, "No one can dare to do the partition of India as our country is strong. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian all live together and help in doing progress as well as development of the nation. Now, no one can break this country because we are strong." (Kisi ki himmat nahi hai Bharat ka partition karde. Ye desh mazboot hai. New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): The Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the national capital on December 09. Citizenship (Amendment) Bill had been tabled in the Lower House for discussion during the day time. The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019 passed in Lok Sabha with 311 'AYES' and 80 'NOES'. The Bill seeks to grant Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Through CAB, Indian citizenship will be provided to the members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from the three countries to India till December 31, 2014, to put an end to them being treated as illegal immigrants in the country. Replying to the debate on the Bill in the Lower House, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Hindu population was 84% in 1991 and in 2011 it was 79%." 1 civilian injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in JandK's Poonch

Poonch (JandK), Dec 10 (ANI): Pakistan violated ceasefire in the Shahpur sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on December 09. Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of small arms and intense shelling with mortars along LoC. A statement said that at about 15:45, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along LoC in Shahpur sector. One civilian was injured in ceasefire violation in Poonch. The injured civilian has been moved to a hospital for medical treatment. On Dec 2, Centre had informed Rajya Sabha that there have been 950 incidents of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir region from August to October.
