Delhi covers with smog ahead of Diwali

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): Ahead of Diwali, Delhi was seen covered with smog. A hazy morning was witnessed at India Gate. The air quality of the national capital continued to be 'poor'. Earlier, CM Arvind Kejriwal had requested state governments to take measures as air quality is deteriorating day by day.

Balali (Haryana), Oct 21 (ANI): Voting for Haryana Assembly elections are underway on Oct 21. Wrestler Babita Phogat is also contesting from Charkhi Dadri as BJP candidate. Her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat spoke to ANI on it and said, "She has a clean image and her speeches are passionate, people are influenced by it and are giving her their blessings. She will win election by a big margin."

Voting begins in Haryana

Panchkula/Kaithal (Haryana), Oct 21 (ANI): Voting for Haryana Assembly elections 2019 has been started. 19,578 polling stations have been set up for people to cast their votes. The polling for 90 Assembly seats of Haryana started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The counting of votes will take place on October 24. In Haryana, 2,987 have been marked as vulnerable whereas 151 critical polling stations have been identified the live footage of which would be monitored in the control room set up at the headquarters in Chandigarh. More than 40,000 Haryana Police personnel, over 13,000 paramilitary personnel and more than 20,000 Home Guards and Special Police Officers have been deployed for conducting the elections. The Assembly election will witness a multi-cornered contest between BJP, Congress, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). It is also the first Assembly polls after the BJP-led government's decision to repeal Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Maharashtra Assembly elections: Voting begins for 288 seats

Mumbai/ Pune (Maharashtra), Oct 21 (ANI): Voting for Maharashtra Assembly elections has been started. BJP is contesting 150 seats in 288-member Maharashtra Assembly while its ally Shiv Sena has fielded 124 candidates. The remaining seats have been left for smaller allies. Congress is contesting the polls in alliance with Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra. 40,000 police personnel have been deployed in Mumbai and drones will be used for surveillance as part of security arrangements. Maharashtra Police will also maintain strict vigil throughout the state with its personnel deployed for election duties in all districts along with home guards, companies of CAPF and CRPF for the polling day. It is also the first assembly polls after the BJP-led government's decision to repeal Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Puducherry (Tamil Nadu), Oct 21 (ANI): Chief Minister of Puducherry, V Narayanasamy hit back on Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi over her tweet. V Narayanasamy said, "Lt Governor has no business interfering at time of election when model code of conduct is enforced. If I wear helmet during campaign, people will not know who is coming to seek votes." He also posted Kiran Bedi's photo on twitter where she was not wearing helmet and captioned it, "Practice before you preach".

Prenatal nicotine intake during pregnancy may lead to systolic blood pressure issue among offsprings: Study

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): Mothers who consumed snus, which is moist powdered smokeless tobacco that contains nicotine, during their pregnancy, their offsprings are likely to suffer from systolic blood pressure, says a recent study. Snus, when placed between gums and upper lip delivers high doses of nicotine yet, does not include the combustible by-products found in smoked tobacco. Unlike typical American chewing tobacco or dip, there is no need to spit when using snus. According to study, nicotine use during pregnancy, regardless of whether it is in snus, cigarettes, smoked tobacco or vaped tobacco products, is not safe and may have a negative impact on the future health of the child. The current study isolated nicotine exposure by studying women, who used only Swedish snus during pregnancy. New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): Union Minister VK Singh took a dig at Pakistan on repeated ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir. VK Singh said, "Kayi baar, poonch seedhi karne mein samay lagta hai [Sometimes, it takes time to straighten out the tail]." On being asked about Army Chief Bipin Rawat's statement where he said that Indian Army used artillery guns to target terrorist camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, VK Singh replied, "Our army is always ready to take action when needed, so that what is being violated from the other side and the indirect war can be stopped."

'Kathina Civara Dana' ceremony held in Leh

Leh, Oct 21 (ANI): 'Kathina Civara Dana', the offering ceremony to Sangha members was held at Jetavana Monastery at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) on Sunday (October 20) for many Sangha members from Thailand, who successfully completed a three-month annual retreat called 'Vassa' which is called 'Yarnas' in Tibetan/Ladakhi. 6-10 Pak soldiers killed, 3 terror camps destroyed: Bipin Rawat on Army action in PoK

New Delhi, Oct 20 (ANI): Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on October 20 shared information on Indian Army's action in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) where four terror launch pads were struck. He said that 6-10 Pakistani soldiers have been killed while three terror camps have been destroyed during the attack by the Indian Army. Indian Army launched a military offensive as it attacked four terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on October 20. The terror launch pads were situated in PoK's Neelam Valley.

Caused severe damage to terror infrastructure in PoK: Army Chief Bipin Rawat

New Delhi, Oct 20 (ANI): Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on October 20 shared information on Indian Army's action in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) where four terror launch pads were struck. He said that the Army was getting information about terrorists' infiltration ahead of the Diwali. He said the Army got the information that the terrorists camps in Pir Panjal Range were active and some of the terrorists tried to infiltrate into India from Tangdhar, hence it was decided to attack on the terrorists launch pads. "We have the coordinates of where these camps have emerged, we have caused severe damage to terrorists infrastructure across and let me tell you that the terrorists' camps opposite Tangdhar and Kiral sector have been destroyed," said Rawat. Indian Army launched a military offensive as it attacked four terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on October 20. The terror launch pads were situated in PoK's Neelam Valley.

Panaji (Goa), Oct 20 (ANI): India's first triathlon race 'IRONMAN 70.3' was held in Goa's Panaji on October 20. The event took place at Miramar beach in Panaji. Over 1000 participants including 800 Indians took part in this race. Participants from 27 countries including Singapore, France, Germany, Australia, Qatar and Japan also marked their presence in the triathlon race. While speaking to media about the event, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, "It is being organised for the first time in country. Over 27 countries are participating in it." "It is an example of sports tourism. We will promote more such events in future," Goa CM added.
