Karnal (Haryana), Oct 13 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed a public rally in Haryana's Karnal. Addressing the rally, he said, "I can say that unlike the previous CMs of Haryana - be it a CM of Congress or of INLD who used to run their govt from Delhi and not from Haryana, CM Manohar Lal Khattar runs the government by working from the grass-root level." Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for Haryana in Chandigarh on October 13. Haryana Assembly polls have been scheduled to take place on October 21. The votes will be counted on October 24.
Chandigarh, Oct 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national working president, JP Nadda along with Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar released BJP's manifesto for the state. Addressing the public, Nadda said, "Modi ji said in Rewari that we will fulfill the demand of One Rank One Pension (OROP). I can say with authority, Rs 12,000 crore have been disbursed for OROP, 22 Lakhs cases have been addressed. There is no pending case of OROP."

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Oct 13 (ANI): Kerala government has decided to bear the training cost of 20-year-old Adam Harry to help him become the country's first transgender. Hary, who has been disowned by his family, aims to become the country's first transgender airline pilot and inspire other people of his community to follow their dreams and passion. While speaking to ANI, Harry said, "I am the first transman person to obtain a private pilot license and I am planning to pursue commercial pilot training in India for which the government has planned to support me financially. I am very happy about that. I did my private pilot training from Johannesburg in South Africa and it was a one year course. Soon after I returned to India after completing the course, my parents got to know about my gender identity and they put me under house arrest when I was 19. Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Oct 13 (ANI): Specially-abled from Gujarat's Ahmedabad make diyas and lamps ahead of the festival of lights 'Diwali'. While speaking to ANI, "We have been making these diyas since years and people buy them from us and light up their homes." Shivamogga (Karnataka), Oct 13 (ANI): One elephant, Naganna, recently died after getting infected by the virus Herpes in Karnataka's Shivamogga. The virus threat at Shivamogga Sakrebailu Elephant Camp has become a cause of concern. Chandrasekhar, Deputy Forest Conservator, said that precautionary measures are being taken to ensure the rest of the elephants do not get infected by Herpes."We are taking precautionary measures in the camp for the rest of the elephant. Ten elephants are under observation and have been kept outside Sakrebailu Elephant Camp," he said. As many as 24 elephants in the camp are undergoing treatment.
Vadodara (Gujarat), Oct 10 (ANI): In a bid to attract more visitors, the Fine Art faculty of Maharaja Sayajirao is preparing unique and colourful art pieces of iron cactus for the Cactus Garden which is in the vicinity of the Statue of Unity. The state government, along with the Centre, is trying to get maximum footfall at the monument. "The monument has become famous internationally. A cactus garden is being prepared here for which we are designing a variety of iron cactus. The government has invited faculty of fine arts to portray our art pieces there. We will be placing these cacti on a wall of around 8,000 square feet in the garden," said Jayanti L Rabadia, Professor of Fine Art faculty. Painting cut-outs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will also be installed in the garden among other art pieces.
Mumbai, Oct 13 (ANI): All trapped people have been rescued from a building where a massive fire broke out early morning. The incident took place near Dreamland Cinema on October 13. The fire level was categorised as a 'level 3 fire'. The cause of the fire is not known yet and the damage suffered is uncertain.

Hapur (UP), Oct 13 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's Hapur Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dinesh Kumar has married a woman, who had accused him of sexual exploitation. The woman alleged that she was physically exploited by the SDM for four years on the pretext of marriage. "Dinesh Kumar came to take his belongings from Hapur. A woman claimed that Dinesh Kumar promised to marry her. He was living with her for four years. But nobody did not know about their relationship. He wanted to marry but decided to postpone after fighting with her," Kushinagar District Magistrate, Anil Kumar Singh told media. Kumar was earlier posted at Khadda tehsil but he went to Hapur after transfer. When he came back to Kushinagar to take his belongings, the woman forced him to marry her but Kumar refused. Anil Kumar and other officials tried to make the woman understand but she did budge. Later, she married Kumar at a temple and also registered the marriage.
Mandsaur (MP), Oct 13 (ANI): Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) worker in Mandsaur. "We have arrested four people in connection with the death of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) worker, Yuvraj Singh. Three men had shot him dead on October 9. Search for four other accused is underway," Hitesh Choudhary, SP, Mandsaur said while speaking to reporters. The Police Officer said illegal weapons have been recovered from them. "The main accused are Deepak Tanwar and Vicky. Vicky himself is related to Bajrang Dal. There are a total of eight accused in the case," said the Police Officer.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 13 (ANI): An 11-day long Khadi festival was kick-started by the Uttar Pradesh government in Lucknow on October 02. A fashion show was organised on October 12 to promote Khadi clothes on the last day of 'Uttar Pradesh Khadi Mahotsav-2019.' Khadi festival was organised to mark the culmination of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary celebration. Famous fashion designers Ritu Beri, Rina Dhaka and others attended the event. Uttar Pradesh's Cabinet Minister for Khadi and Gram Udyog Sidharth Nath Singh also marked his presence with other dignitaries. About 100 stalls were set up in the exhibition.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 13 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on bomb threat at Lucknow Airport, Circle Officer of Krishna Nagar Police Station Amit Kumar Rai said, "The man was interrogated. The plane took off after a thorough search by the security officers. Further investigation in the incident is underway." Earlier, Lucknow Airport Authority gave a statement that Piyush Verma, a passenger was interrogated for displaying unusual behavior at the Airport on October 12. During interrogation, he said there is a bomb on a Chennai bound IndiGo flight that was scheduled to depart at 7:25 pm. Later, all authorities have been alerted, and the flight has been held up.
Doda (JandK), Oct 13 (ANI): In all, 34 women including a 64-year-old have filed nominations in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district for the coming Block Development Council (BDC) elections, scheduled to be held on October 24. Around 1,900 voters will elect 17 councillors one in each block. Ghat is the oldest rural development block of Doda district with 126 voters. In Ghat block, 64-year-old Sharifa Begum has filed her nomination for the post of councillor. She was elected as the Sarpanch for the Ghat Panchayat in the last Panchayat polls. New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Facebook is facing a lawsuit for alleged trademark infringement by copying the logo for Calibra, subsidiary for its Libra cryptocurrency. A startup bank, Current has sued the social networking giant for copying its logo, The Verge reports. The two logos were designed three years apart and Current claims it started using its logo in August 2016 while Facebook's logo for Calibra was revealed earlier this year in June.
New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Men and women are different on various dimensions including benefiting from low-calorie diets, proves a study. In the study of more than 2,000 overweight individuals with pre-diabetes who followed a low-calorie diet for eight weeks, men lost significantly more bodyweight than women, and they had larger reductions in a metabolic syndrome score, a diabetes indicator, fat mass, and heart rate. Women had larger reductions in HDL-cholesterol, hip circumference, lean body mass (or fat-free mass), and pulse pressure than men. The findings have been published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism.
