Moviegoers love chemistry of 'Good Newwz' star cast

Mumbai, Dec 28 (ANI): The much awaited movie 'Good Newwz' was released on December 27. The movie stars Kiara Advani, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles. One of the moviegoers said, "I loved the movie and Akshay Kumar and even Diljit Dosanjh were superb. It was a great movie. I loved the chemistry of all the actors in the film." Another moviegoer added, "Story was fantastic and it was a joyful morning for me. I think the excitement level remains throughout the movie and the humour was also fantastic." The movie is directed by Raj Mehta.

Hot tea, bonfire to rescue as cold waves grip Punjab

Ludhiana (Punjab) / Amritsar (Punjab), Dec 28 (ANI): Punjab is continuously reeling under cold waves. The temperature has dipped in the city to several degrees due to heavy snowfall in parts of North India. People took support of hot cups of tea and bonfires to beat the cold weather. The chilly weather will continue in coming weeks too. One of the locals said that market has affected as everyone is trying to stay at home in cold weather.

Delhi records its lowest temperature of season at 1.7 degrees

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): The minimum temperature of Delhi was further dropped to record its chilliest day at 1.7 degrees Celsius on December 28. The minimum temperature was recorded at Lodhi road. Temperature has dipped to several degrees in the national capital. The cold waves have intensified while fog canopied parts of the city. Temperatures were 2.4 and 3.1 degrees at Safdurjung Enclave and Palam, respectively. Chilly weather is expected to continue in Delhi-NCR this week.

Food festival organised in Srinagar to aware locals of country-wide cuisines

Srinagar (J and K), Dec 28 (ANI): A six-month-long food festival is underway in Srinagar to make the locals aware of country's different cuisines. Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) in Srinagar organised the food festival under the banner of "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat". Started in November this year, it will continue till April 2020. It is being organised in collaboration with the Tourism Ministry of India. The varieties of foods belonging to different states of the country are displayed in the food festival.

Congress celebrates 135th foundation day at AICC headquarters

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): The Indian National Congress (INC) celebrated its 135th foundation day on December 28 at the party headquarters in the national capital. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi hoisted tricolour at party office. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also reached there to celebrate party's Foundation Day. Congress party traced its foundation to December 28, 1885. The first Congress session was held then in Bombay. Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and senior Congress leaders including Motilal Vora, AK Antony also arrived at the party headquarters to celebrate the day.

IED blast in Manipur's Imphal

Imphal (Manipur), Dec 28 (ANI): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast occurred in Manipur's Imphal on December 28. The blast took place at Nagari area in Imphal around 05:00 am. No casuality or injury has been reported yet. The team of Bomb Disposal Squad is examining the spot. The blast site is just about 800 metres away from City Police Station. More details are awaited.

2 dead, 1 missing in Mumbai factory fire

Mumbai, Dec 28 (ANI): Two persons, including a woman, have died while one person is missing after a fire broke out at a factory in Mumbai's Ghatkopar. Search operation for the missing person is underway. Fire broke out here on the night of December 27. Cooling operations are still underway at the factory. Further details are awaited.

Surat girl wins gold medals in world powerlifting championships

Surat (Gujarat), Dec 28 (ANI): Meet Roma Shah from Gujarat and a computer engineering student who won gold medals in power lifting. Roma participated in 'World Raw Powerlifting Federation' (WRPF) 2019 held at Moscow. She bagged 2 gold and 2 silver medals this year and it was her third appearance in 2019. She has won a total of 8 gold medals and 2 silver medals in the past three years for the country. Speaking to ANI, Roma Shah said, "I am playing on International level for past three years. I was the only female participant from India and over 22 countries have participated in the championships."

BJP takes out rally to support CAA in Assam's Morigaon

Morigaon (Assam), Dec 28 (ANI): A mass rally was organised by the BJP to support Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam's Morigaon on December 27. BJP workers led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took out the four-km rally. The new Citizenship Act gives Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from three neighbouring countries i.e., Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

People shiver after Delhi records coldest morning of 2019

You can no longer use Messenger without Facebook account

New Delhi, Dec (ANI): Facebook has removed the ability to use Messenger without an account on the social networking giant. Earlier, new users were able to access Messenger or Messenger Lite app using their phone number instead of a Facebook account. With the new update, users will require to have a Facebook account to chat with friends using Messenger, VentureBeat notes. The latest change precedes the company's plan of unifying the technical infrastructure of all its services including WhatsApp and Instagram.

Scientists find Tuberculosis vaccine lowers rate of Alzheimer's in cancer patients

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): Currently, Alzheimer's affects one-in-ten adults over the age of 65, number that is expected to triple by 2030. The need to find a cure is great. In the backdrop of the following facts, researchers have developed a TB vaccine that lowers rates of Alzheimer's disease in cancer patients. Now there may be a glimmer of hope. A research team headed by Herve Bercovier, Charles Greenblatt and Benjamin Klein at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU)'s Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics has discovered that the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine, originally developed for tuberculosis and commonly used to treat bladder cancer, may also be an effective treatment to prevent Alzheimer's. The study was published in the journal PLOS ONE.
