Portals of temples in Varanasi close ahead of solar eclipse

Varanasi (UP), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Dec 26 (ANI): Parts of India will witness solar eclipse on December 26. Portals of temples are being closed in Varanasi as 'darshan' of goddesses and gods is not considered auspicious during eclipse. Eclipse occurs when moon comes between sun and earth and sun appears as a ring. Solar eclipse will start at 8 AM. Planetariums are also prepped up to give people glimpse of the eclipse.

HIV affects young brains even after early treatment

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): A new study has given a clear understanding about how even with early treatment, HIV still manages to attack young brains. Across sub-Saharan Africa today, a vast majority of children suffer from HIV. While early antiretroviral treatment, or ART, ensured that children with and exposed to HIV have less deadly results, studies have shown that the virus can still affect the brain. HIV may disrupt neurodevelopment, affecting how children learn, reason and function. The study by Professor Boivin was supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health. The neuropsychological performance in three groups of children 5 to 11 years old has been examined by Boivin and his colleagues: individuals who acquired HIV perinatally and were treated with ART, those exposed but HIV-negative, and those who were never exposed. UP Police issues 'wanted' posters of anti-CAA rioters in Varanasi

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 25 (ANI): In a bid to nab those who led the violence in Varanasi during a protest against the newly-enacted citizenship law, police on December 25 issued posters with pictures of the rioters. Uttar Pradesh Police placed the posters of protestors in Bazardiha area of Varanasi. The posters of 'wanted rioters' also say that people who provide information that will lead to arrests will be rewarded. Police said several rioters have been identified through videos and CCTV footages. The identity of the informant will be kept secret. Many people have died in police-protesters clashes against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, which erupted in different districts of Uttar Pradesh including Meerut, Bahraich, Bareilly, Bhadohi, Gorakhpur and Sambhal.

MP's Animal Husbandry Dept focuses on cattle breeding

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 25 (ANI): Animal Husbandry Department has compiled a database called 'Sire' directory of 16 breeds of bulls at Central Semen Station in Bhopal. The directory includes details such as bulls' family history, disease status and milk production capacity of their mother. Speaking to ANI, Manager at Central Semen Station, "Female animal is not allowed here. Bulls are trained to donate semen artificially. After semen's quality is determined, it's frozen and stored. Directory can be called matrimonial record; it's available on our website too. Farmers can order online."

Two arrested with 80 kg cannabis in Rameswaram

2 robbers looted Rs 24 lakh from ATM in Bihar's Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Dec 25 (ANI): Two motorbike-borne men looted Rs 24 lakh from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on December 24. The incident occurred when the ATM at Kachi Pakki area in Muzaffarpur was being replenished. While speaking to ANI, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar Police Station, Mithilesh Kumar Jha said, "The two men snatched the gun from the security guard and looted Rs 24 lakh from the agents who had come to replenish the ATM." "We are trying to activate the CCTV to gain access to the video footage. The two agents and the security guard have been detained as their activities were suspicious," he added.
