2 terrorists nabbed, LeT terror module busted: J-K DGP

Vijapur (J-K), Dec 23 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh informed that a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist was arrested from Tral and a Lashkar-e-Taiba terror module was busted, along with arrest of one of its terrorist, on December 22. Speaking to the media, Dilbag Singh said, "A JeM terrorist was arrested from Tral. A LeT terrorist was also arrested and the module was busted, yesterday." "There are attempts by Pakistan to infiltrate along the Line of Control. Our border guarding forces are retaliating effectively. The situation is completely under control," he added further.

DRDO successfully test-fires Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile off Odisha coast

Chandipur (Odisha), Dec 23 (ANI): Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile off the coast of Odisha on December 23. The missile successfully engaged the aerial target establishing its capability. Director General of Missiles and Strategic Systems at DRDO MSR Prasad was present during the trial. With this mission, developmental trials of the weapon system are completed and weapon system is expected to be ready for induction by 2021.

Harshest winter phase 'Chillai-Kalan' begins in Kashmir following heavy snowfall

Srinagar, Dec 23 (ANI): A 40-day long period of extreme cold 'Chillai-Kalan' began in Kashmir on December 21. It will continue till January 31 followed by Chillai-Khurd and Chillai-Bachha. A 20-day long Chillai-Khurd (small cold) starts from January 31 to February 19 and a 10-day long Chillai-Bachha (baby cold) occurs between February 20 to March 02. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the period mostly remains wet as the upper part of the Valley received heavy snowfall and the maximum temperature drops considerably. During this period, water bodies like lakes, river and stream get frozen with a thick layer of sheets. The maximum and minimum temperature at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir was recorded between -1.6C and -3.0C below normal, the weather agency said. In Srinagar, minimum temperature was 0 degree Celsius, Pahalgam -7. In Gulmarg, the temperature was below - 9 Degree Celsius, IMD said. Kirari fire: Delhi govt to give Rs 10 lakh to kin of deceased, says Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Speaking on the fire accident that took place in North-West Delhi's Kirari area, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to kin of deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to those injured in the accident. "A compensation of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to those injured. Injured will be treated on government expenses. SDM inquiry into reason behind the incident to be conducted within 7 days," the Delhi Health Minister said. At least nine people died after a fire broke out at a cloth godown in Kirari. The fire has been doused off and the injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital.
