P Chidambaram sent in CBI custody till Aug 26

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court sent former union finance minister P Chidambaram to CBI custody till August 26 in INX Media Case. Supreme Court will hear P Chidambaram's petition against CBI on August 23. His petition against Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be heard in SC on August 27. CBI Court has permitted Chidambaram to meet family members and lawyers for 30 minutes a day. P Chidambaram was arrested by CBI on late evening of August 21 in relation with INX Media Case.

Country gripped in financial crisis, there's fall in every sector: CM Baghel

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said that country is gripped in financial crisis. Explaining his statement, he added "There is a fall in every sector, including the automobile industry, where employee strength is being cut and numerous plants are being shut. The situation is bad in the government sector as well."

Chhattisgarh CM terms Chidambaram's arrest as 'action of revenge'

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday reacted on former finance minister and veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram's arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Backing Chidambaram, he said that Centre is unable to handle such criticism, hence they are taking the revenge. P Chidambaram was arrested by CBI on late evening of August 21 in relation with INX Media Case.

CM Gehlot inaugurates 8th Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship

Jaipur (Rajasthan), August 22 (ANI): Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the 8th Asian woman-Youth Handball championship-2019 at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. Chief Minister also met the captains of the participating teams and wished them all the luck. Apart from India, teams from South Korea, China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Bangladesh and Nepal are participating in the Championship. Defending champion South Korea will lock horns with other team to save its title. The previous edition of championship was held in 2017 at Jakarta in Indonesia.

'People's wall' in Karnataka's Shivamogga provides basic necessities to needy

Shivamogga (Karnataka), Aug 22 (ANI): A number of people are affected in Karnataka after flood hit at least 22 districts of state. A petrol pump owner in Shivamogga has created 'people's wall' to avail needy individuals. The wall has clothes, shoes, food items and other amenities for needful. The 'people's wall' is a unique initiative of exchanging goods as social contribution. Donors contribute relief material to help the needy. Poor people pick essentials and food items from the same place.

J-K's sensitive area Tral shows sign of normalcy

Tral (J-K), Aug 22 (ANI): With normalcy returning to parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Pulwama's Tral is also looking positive, weeks after scraping of Article 370, which gave special status to J-K. Youth played cricket in the beautiful weather, while shepherds were seen grazing their sheep. A local in Tral said, "There should be places for our children to play, schools should improve, there should be a husbandry in our village, and quality of food should improve in anganwadi centers. I've full faith in government, Narendra Modi is a good man, and he will work for us." Restoration of normalcy in Tral plays a key role, as its one of the most sensitive areas. Terrorists like Burhan Wani belonged to Tral. Security was beefed up in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh on August 5.

Phase 2 of 'Maha Janadesh Yatra' begins, CM Fadnavis holds rally

Dhule (Maharashtra), Aug 22 (ANI): The second phase of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 'Maha Janadesh Yatra Phase 2', led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis begun in Maharashtra's Dhule district on August 22. Earlier, the CM had to abandon his yatra midway, when floods unleashed several districts of the state. The first phase of yatra was conducted from August 01 to August 09.

CM Raghubar Das launches 16 BPO companies to boost employment

Ranchi (Jharkhand), Aug 22 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on August 22 launched 16 Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) companies in the state. The state govt also signed MoUs with three BPO companies. The companies are expected to generate employment in the state. "Jharkhand is a state full of opportunities and there are several sectors where people can invest and generate employment," said CM Das.

Five sanitation workers died while cleaning a sewer in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Aug 22 (ANI): Five sanitation workers died while cleaning sewer in Ghaziabad's Nandgram area on August 22. Police and Municipal Corporation officials arrived at the spot following tragic incident. Bodies of sanitation workers were taken to hospital with help of locals. A worker went unconscious after inhaling poisonous gas, after which other sanitation workers jumped to save him, however, they also lost their lives in rescue attempt, according to a local. Preparations for 'Mysuru Dasara' begins

Mysuru (Karnataka), Aug 22 (ANI): People of Karnataka's Mysuru started preparations for its 10-day festival 'Mysuru Dasara' from August 22. The festival starts with Navaratri and the lasts till Vijayadashami. The Mysuru Dasara is a tradition that Raja Wadiyar I, the ninth ruler of the Mysuru kingdom, is believed to have started in 1610. The festival attracts visitors from all over the world. The festival is observed on the tenth day in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October.
