6 MoUs exchanged between India, Zambia in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): India and Zambia exchanged six Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) in presence of PM Modi and Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on August 21. While speaking during the ceremony, PM Modi said, "The relations of India and Zambia are older than the independence of Zambia. It is a significant friend and trustworthy partner of India. We believe in the same democratic values and the joint ambitions for development connect the two countries." President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is on a three-day visit to India.

23 ministers take oath in first Cabinet reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow (UP), Aug 21 (ANI): The first reshuffle of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's cabinet took place at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow on August 21. Twenty three MLAs took oath as ministers in Uttar Pradesh Government, while six of them as Cabinet Ministers. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath were also present.

Ward councilor alleges Municipal Council Mayor's son of eve-teasing in Bihar

Patna (Bihar), Aug 21 (ANI): Woman ward councilor of Bihar on Wednesday alleged that the son of Municipal Council Mayor eve-teased her during a board meeting of Patna Municipal Corporation. The son of the Municipal Council Mayor has been identified as Shishir Kumar. Narrating the ordeal, Devi told ANI, "During a board meeting of the council, son of the mayor smiled and winked at me. I ignored him once, but when he did the same again, I warned him of telling his mother to which he responded 'go-ahead'. When I complained to the Municipal Council, she accused me of trying to seek attention. I urge CM Nitish Kumar to look into the matter, so that such kind of incident doesn't repeat." Devi also said that if this continues, she will reach out to the Women Commission or court.

MP govt asks school to take back expelled girls after they write to CM alleging racial slurs

Dhar (MP), Aug 21 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh government has asked a private school to re-admit the two girls, who had claimed the institution has expelled them as they hailed from Nepal. However, the school claimed that girls were expelled due to misbehavior of guardian with a school teacher. The two girls also wrote a letter to Prime Minister's Office and Chief Minister Kamal Nath in which they claimed that they were teased in school by being called 'Nepali'.

3 Cheetah helicopters carry essential items to flood-affected areas in Punjab

Jalandhar (Punjab), Aug 21 (ANI): Three Cheetah Helicopters carried 36000 parathas and 18000 litres of water to 18 flood-affected villages of Shahkot in Jalandhar district of Punjab on August 21. Several villages in Punjab's Jalandhar are flooded due to incessant rains. Train services were also affected following flood-like situation in several areas.

Yamuna River continues to swell post water release from Haryana's Hathni Kund barrage

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): River Yamuna continued to swell in Delhi. Water level in Yamuna River crossed 'danger mark' on Aug 20 morning. Old Loha Pul closed for pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Water level of Yamuna River rose as the water was released from Haryana's Hathni Kund barrage. Water level at Old Yamuna Bridge (Loha Pul) has reached 206.60 meter. As per Upper Yamuna Division, Central Water Commission the water level is expected to reach the peak value of 207.08 meter between 1 to 5 pm on August 21. The Delhi government has set up 2120 tents for 23860 people, who are expected to be affected due to the excess water resulting in Yamuna's overflow.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Lungu is on a three-day visit to India. He also met many other political leaders after the honour. INX Media scam: CBI team seen at P Chidambaram's residence

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was seen at the residence of former finance minister P Chidambaram in connection to INX Media scam on August 21. They had put up a notice outside P Chidambaram's residence to appear before them today within 2 hours on August 20 night. On Tuesday, Delhi High Court had dismissed his anticipatory bail pleas in connection with the corruption and the money laundering cases related to INX Media case. Chidambaram's legal team will approach the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court on Wednesday to seek a stay on High Court order.

Former MP CM Babulal Gaur passes away at 89

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Babulal Gaur passed away in Bhopal on August 21 morning. The 89-year-old Gaur was admitted to hospital on August 07 in a critical condition after his blood pressure dropped. He was later put on ventilator after his medical condition deteriorated. Gaur served as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh from August 2004 to November 2005. Born on June 02, 1930, the BJP leader was credited with expanding BJP's footholds in Madhya Pradesh. Gaur retired from electoral politics in 2018 citing his old age.

Ahmedabad Traffic Police initiates 'Police Pathshala' for children residing on footpaths

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Aug 21 (ANI): Ahmedabad City Traffic Police imparted free education to children residing on footpaths. The project is called 'Police Pathshala'. Around 150-200 children are getting education in three centers across the city. These children are also getting free food. While speaking to ANI, ACP of Traffic of Ahmedabad City, Ankit Patel said, "Children residing on footpaths often get involved in crime, so we thought to educate them and bring a change in their lives. Once the children get basic knowledge, they will be enrolled in regular schools."

Ludhiana streets get water-logged following heavy rainfall

Ludhiana (Punjab), Aug 21 (ANI): Water-logging is being witnessed in many parts of Ludhiana due to heavt rainfall. A heavy discharge of water was also released from Sutlej river in view of its rising water level. Around two lakh cusec of water has been released from a dam situated on the Sutlej river. The measure was taken following incessant rains in parts of Punjab where a flood-like situation has developed. The water-logging caused severe problems for the locals and hit the normal life in Ludhiana.

3 statues of Ambedkar vandalised in UP's Azamgarh

Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 21 (ANI): Three statues of B.R. Ambedkar were vandalised in separate incidents in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh. The three separate incidents were reported from three different villages which come under Azamgarh Devgaon Thana. Police officials rushed to the spot for inspection. Multiple investigative agencies have been tasked with the investigation in the vandalism incidents. One of the statues was 20 years old.

BJP's Krishna Rao hints at name change of Nizamabad if party comes to power in Telangana

"It actually questions the identity of the people in that region because that name was thrust upon them and it is not a natural identity," he added. "Telangana BJP MP Arvind has said to change the name of Nizamabad and going by the provision available if we come into the power in the state certainly it is possible," he further stated.

Apple TV Plus to launch in November at 10 dollars per month: Report

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Apple is reportedly planning to release its long-awaited Apple TV+ movie and TV subscription service by November 2019. The Apple TV+ service is likely to cost USD 9.99 a month, matching the company's Apple Music and Apple News+. It will come with the standard free trial before the paid plan kicks in, Bloomberg reported. It is also speculated that Apple may offer the first three episodes of some programs, followed by weekly installments. The company's goal is to reach USD 50 billion in service sales by 2020.
