"The integrated security system is intended to prevent any untoward incident and monitor passengers and station users", NF Railway General Manager Ranjit Singh Virdi said here today.
The 16 stations are spread across the North Eastern states, North Bengal and parts of East Bihar, which fall under the jurisdiction of N-F Railway.
The stations include Kokrajhar, Lumding, Guwahati, Diphu, Badarpur, Furkating, Mariani, Simaluguri, Jorhat and Dibrugarh in Assam, Dimapur in Nagaland, Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri in Bengal, besides Katihar and Kishanganj in Bihar.
"Regular coordination with state police, intelligence agencies and other security forces like BSF and CRPF are being maintained for intelligence based operations", Virdi said.
He said various security related equipment like VHF sets and dragon search lights have been procured for Railway Police Force personnel and steps are on for strengthening dog squads.
"Last fiscal, we busted 30 gangs engaged in activities like drugging and robbing of passengers in our zone", Virdi said.
The N-F Railway had achieved a punctuality rate of 91 per cent in 2011-12 in running of trains in the zone and efforts were on to further increase it, he said.
"With favourable weather and absence of disruptions like rail roko agitations, we can achieve even better performance", Virdi said, adding, accidents in N-F Railway's operational area fell to 44 in 2011-12 from 59 in the previous fiscal. MORE
