Nifty September 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price
The August 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8631.95, near Nifty's spot closing of 8,624.05 in the cash market. The Nifty September 2016 futures traded at 8681.05, a premium of 57 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment increased to Rs 3.50 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.25 lakh crore registered yesterday, 16 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty lost 18.50 points or 0.21% to settle at 8,624.05, its lowest closing level since 11 August 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI August 2016 futures traded at 246, near spot closing of 245.40. Tata Steel August 2016 futures traded at 391.30, near spot closing of 391. ICICI Bank August 2016 futures traded at 247.40, near with spot closing of 247.
Yes Bank August 2016 futures traded at 1307.40, at a slight discount compared with spot closing of 1307.85. Axis Bank August 2016 futures traded at 590.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 588.45.
The August 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 August 2016. The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016.
