In sign of unity, Russian official visits China's premier military showcase

A top Russian defence official has attended China's premier military showcase in a show of unity between the countries as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine. Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, was in the southern city of Zhuhai to view Chinese and Russian aircraft and other military hardware on Thursday. They included Chinese J22 and J35A stealth fighters that China says are rivals to the latest US jets in the same class. Shoigu, a former defence minister, appeared to be on a mission to reaffirm ties between the countries as Russia's invasion of Ukraine has largely stalemated and Moscow has turned to North Korean soldiers to boost its troop numbers. China is not known to have directly provided military support to Russia, but has sold it dual-use technologies that could boost its ability to attack Ukrainian targets. China is also a major customer of Russian oil and gas amid international sanctions blocking Russia's access to global financial ..

Taiwan's defence ministry detects China's test-firing of multiple missiles

Taiwan's Defence Ministry said Sunday it detected multiple waves of missile firings within China, days after Beijing said it successfully fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean. The ministry said in a statement that the missile firings were carried out by China's Rocket Force and the Chinese military in Inner Mongolia as well as Gansu and Qinghai provinces and the Xinjiang region in western China. Taiwan said it would continuously monitor developments and that its air defences would maintain a high level of vigilance and alert. China views the self-ruled island of Taiwan as a renegade province that must come under its control, by force if necessary. Taiwan closely monitors China's military activity, and China has in recent years ramped up drills around the island amid increased geopolitical tensions. The firing exercises on Sunday came after China said Wednesday that it test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile, which fell into a designated area o

India on Friday successfully test-fired the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM) for the second consecutive day from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on the Odisha coast, defence sources said. A statement from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) confirmed that both tests on September 12 and 13 were successful. In both the tests, the missile successfully intercepted a high-speed low altitude aerial target mimicking sea skimming aerial target, the statement said. For safety reasons, the Balasore district administration temporarily relocated 3,100 residents from six villages within 2.5 km radius of ITR Launch Pad 3. A revenue official said these precautions were taken in consultation with the ITR authorities at Chandipur.
