Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Ltd, has secured Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard Certification for its Baphlimali bauxite mine in Odisha's Rayagada district, a company statement said. The ASI is a global sustainability standards and certification organisation for the aluminium value chain. Its performance standard evaluates environmental, social and governance across operations, covering areas such as biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, community engagement, human rights, occupational health and safety, and responsible business practices. The statement claimed that UAIL is the first bauxite mine to achieve this certification. The company said that the certification covers the planning, mining, onsite crushing and conveyor transportation of bauxite from the Baphlimali mines, which have an annual production capacity of 8.5 million tonnes. Hindalco Industries on Friday said its consolidated net profit rose over 75 per cent year-on-year to Rs 7,013 crore in the June quarter, driven by increased revenues from aluminium and copper segments. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 4,004 crore in the first quarter of the preceding 2025-26 fiscal, the Aditya Birla Group entity said in an exchange filing. During April-June, the company's total income also increased to Rs 85,882 crore from Rs 64,834 crore in the year-ago period, posting a rise of around 32 per cent. The share of the aluminium upstream segment in the revenue was Rs 13,403 crore while copper's contribution was Rs 17,232 crore. Hindalco Industries will invest Rs 50,000 crore in India over the next three years across upstream and downstream businesses and is evaluating an additional Rs 50,000 crore of growth opportunities, creating a potential Rs 1 lakh crore investment pipeline, its Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said on Thursday. Speaking at the company's 67th Annual General Meeting, Birla said, "Across our businesses, Hindalco is executing an unprecedented investment to enhance capacities in our mines, upstream and downstream operations in India. We have already earmarked Rs 50,000 crore for strategic growth projects across the value chain. Another Rs 50,000 crore of opportunities are being evaluated." State-owned BHEL on Wednesday said it has secured an order in the range of Rs 1,200-1,500 crore from Hindalco Industries. BHEL said a letter of intent (LOI) in this regard has been received from Aditya Aluminium, Hindalco Industries. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply up to site, unloading & storage, erection, commissioning and performance guarantee test for 2 x 150 megawatt BTG (boiler, turbine, and generator) package excluding civil work. The project is to be executed at Lapanga, Sambalpur in Odisha in a span of about 3 years, BHEL said in a regulatory filing.
