Parking charges to go up, effective from April 1

Parking charges from removed from the exemption list today

Finance Minister P Chidambaram may have limited the increase in excise duty on automobiles to SUVs and imported vehicles, but parking charges for all vehicles will go up.

Parking by "general public" will now be charged 12% service tax. The service has been brought out of the exemption list of services. The tax will be applicable from April 1 this year.
