Bajaj Auto, India’s second largest two-wheeler maker, recorded its highest ever monthly sales of two-wheelers last month, selling 282,808 units in the domestic and export markets.
It recorded growth of 68 per cent over the same month previous year, when the company achieved sales of 167,945 units.
Sales of three-wheelers, including exports, grew 32 per cent to 32,614 units for the reporting period, against 24,731 units reported in the corresponding month a year ago.
Total sales (two- and three-wheelers) including exports grew 63 per cent to 315,422 units compared to 193,202 units.
The company, too, is facing production problems like other automotive manufacturers in the industry. A statement from the company said, “Production constraints limited sales”. The company lost 20,000 units of production during the month due to the constraint.
Further, cost pressures due to rising raw material prices forced the company to jack up prices of its Discover and Pulsar range by Rs 500-1,000 in mid-June.
