Bajaj Hindusthan Q3 loss widens to Rs 157.47 cr

The company reported a loss of Rs 76.51 crore in the year-ago period

Press Trust of India New Delhi
The country's largest sugar firm, Bajaj Hindusthan, today said its loss for the quarter ended June 30 widened to Rs 157.47 crore, mainly on account of lower sales and higher finance costs.

The company reported a loss of Rs 76.51 crore in the year-ago period, according to a filing to the BSE.

Total income from operations fell to Rs 1,267.26 crore in the third quarter of fiscal 2012-13 from Rs 1,343.09 crore a year earlier.

The board agreed to seek the consent of shareholders by way of postal ballot to shift the company's registered office to Uttar Pradesh from Maharashtra, according to a separate BSE filing.

Bajaj Hindusthan has 14 sugar plants in Uttar Pradesh with a sugarcane crushing capacity of 136,000 TCD (tonnes crushed per day) and a distillery capacity to produce 8 lakh litres of alcohol a day.
