BharatBenz trucks register 72% growth in Jan-Feb 2015

Sales of the trucks have surpassed 20,000 units since the market launch in September 2012

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), a 100 per cent wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, today announced that sales of its BharatBenz trucks has surpassed 20,000 units since its market launch in September 2012.

The company said sales of BharatBenz trucks registered a growth of 72 per cent in the first two months of 2015 as compared to same period last year. BharatBenz trucks' portfolio ranges from 9 to 49 tonnes.

Sreeram V, vice president Domestic Sales, Product Management & Network, DICV, commented that BharatBenz is gaining momentum in the Indian market. 20,000 trucks is an important milestone for the company and it is are already among the top three in the Heavy Duty segment.

 

"This reflects that our robust product portfolio offers the lowest total-cost-of-ownership for the Indian customer, better fuel advantage, efficiency and performance," he said.

Commenting on network, he said that by now DICV has 81 dealership that covers 85 per cent of the Indian market.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Daimler AG, Stuttgart, Germany. DICV produces medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles for the Indian volume market, under the brand name BharatBenz.

The products are manufactured at Oragadam, near Chennai, spreads over 400 acres (160 hectares). It includes a modern test track designed to simulate Indian conditions— making it one of its kind in Asia. DICV has a total dedicated investment of over Rs 4,400 crore (approximately $700 million).
