Coal India Limited (CIL) has been asked to sign fuel supply agreements (FSAs) with power plants by September 16, for a capacity of 78,000 MW of the total 80,000 MW, Union minister of state for Power Jyotiraditya Scindia said here.
“Of the total 172 FSAs for 80,000 Mw capacity, they (CIL) have been asked to sign 150 FSAs by coming September 16 for a capacity of 78,000 Mw,” the minister said here.
The CIL board in month of August this year had approved signing of FSAs for a capacity of 78,000 MW. This capacity is to be signed for as many as 150 power plants which are either commissioned or to be commissioned by 2015.

The inter-ministerial panel on coal linkage, according to a source in a public sector power company, is going to meet tomorrow.
“As many as 27 power companies have yet to sign FSAs with the Coal India Limited on various reasons like non achievement of milestones,” the source added.
