NSE-listed agrochemical formulations company Dhanuka Agritech is planning to introduce two new herbicide and fungicide molecules in India in the next few months. One of each will be for soyabean and the other for horticultural crops as well as paddy.
This year the company has launched herbicide Sempra, a product originally developed by Japan's Nissan Chemical Industries Ltd, for the protection of sugarcane crop from weeds.
The company said, the product is ecofriendly and is said to benefit sugarcane growing areas including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Naidu. This will have positive impact on crop yields and farmer's income.

Elaborating company's growth plans, M K Dhanuka, MD, Dhanuka Agritech said, "Dhanuka is also going to introduce Dupont's highest selling molecule in India under the brand name Cover in July. Also, Sakura, another new molecule from Nissan, and a herbicide for soyabean, will be brought into the Indian market in a fortnight's time. We have also received registration from Hokko Chemicals, Japan, for Conika, a fungicide for paddy and horticultural crops. These molecules were coming into the Indian market for the first time."
The company is setting up its fourth manufacturing facility in India at Keshwana in Rajasthan. Dhanuka has facilities in Haryana, Udhampur and Sanand. It will invest Rs 60 crore for Keshwana plant. Dhanuka added, "Keshwana factory will help to double our existing capacity to 10,000 kl of liquid and 10,000 tonnes of powder. It will be operational in the third quarter of 2016."
India's total market of herbicide is of Rs 2500 crore. According to Dhanuka, consumption of crop protection chemicals is growing at a fast pace in India too, with increasing farm-incomes and awareness among farmers.
Dhanuka has collaborated with few American and Japanese companies which include E. I. DuPont, Chemtura Agro Solutions, FMC Corporation, Sumitomo Chemicals Limited, Hokko Chemicals and Nissan Chemical Industries.
