Eli Lilly Receives Xigris Licence

Eli Lilly & Company has received the import licence for its blockbuster drug Xigris. The company intends to launch the drug in India next month.

Xigris (drotrecogin alfa activated) is the first approved drug for the treatment of severe sepsis, a kind of blood poisoning caused due to organ dysfunction. It is indicated for the reduction of mortality in adult patients due to severe sepsis.

The pharmaceutical company is also putting together an independent team of 14 people for marketing and promoting this life saving drug in the country.
