Communication and entertainment solutions services provider Geodesic today said it has acquired South America-based software firm Interactive Networks for an undisclosed sum.

With this deal, Interactive Networks has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geodesic, the company said in a statement.

"Through this transaction, Geodesic also acquired Interactive Networks' development team, a group that brings extensive mobile VAS experience," Geodesic Senior Vice-President and General Manager Arvind Venkateswaran said.

The acquisition will enable Geodesic to expand its global footprint to South America and Africa, the statement said.

The company currently has operations in the US, the UK, Sweden, Mauritius, Germany and Hong Kong.

Interactive Networks specialises in providing comprehensive messaging solutions to enterprises and mobile operators. The company has implemented its solution with 12 major carriers across South America, Africa and Asia, it said.

The acquisition will also enable Geodesic to expand operations further to mobile carrier and enterprise markets and to provide carriers and handset vendors with a broader product portfolio, the company said.
