HUL's Punit Misra joins ZEEL as CEO for domestic broadcast

The appointment is part of the company's ongoing corporate restructuring exercise and the position is one of the many created in the process

Punit Goenka-led Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) announced the appointment of Punit Misra as the CEO - domestic broadcast business. Misra will report to Goenka, MD & CEO, ZEEL and will head one of the five verticals that are part of the new corporate structure at the Subhash Chandra-promoted company. 

He takes up the post with effect from October 1. Prior to his appointment, Misra was executive director – sales and customer development for Hindustan Unilever (HUL). He joined HUL as a management trainee in 1996 and has worked in leadership roles across customer development, brand building, brand development and general management within the FMCG major in India, as well as in the global customer development team of Unilever. His experience at HUL spans across categories like home care, personal care and foods through various roles in customer development and marketing.
 

Misra is the first hire announced by ZEEL in the restructuring process and more announcements on the heads of the live events and film studio business are expected in the coming weeks. The company is working with research firm EY to downsize the workforce and settle into a new corporate structure. Goenka will continue to head the company, but will have heads of five verticals – broadcast, international business, live events, films and digital reporting into him under the new structure.
