In between Nestle, food authorities' loggerhead Maggi lovers have their share of laughter

Twitter was abuzz by a #MaggiBan campaign since the matter came in to the public domain

Food and drug safety authorities in the country may have raised a red flag on presence of potentially hazardous chemicals in Maggi packets, but noodle lovers in the country are in no mood to get serious yet. However, Nestle India is keeping its focus on the retail markets and social media to control any possible damage - that may prop up due to negative publicity that it has received in the last two days.

Twitter was abuzz by a #MaggiBan campaign since the matter came in to the public domain, and  jokes and memes have flooded the microblogging site. Posts like “#Maggi has LEAD in it. Lead can damage your Brain. Hindi Mein Bole Toh : "THE-MAGGI" Halat. #MaggiBan” or ‘If Maggi is banned, half of India's population (including me) won't be able to say, "I can cook for myself" anymore. #MaggiBan’ stared appearing on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Nestle India, after issuing a press statement on its denial of the UP FDA order, posted its official position in its official twitter and facebook accounts.
But talks about presence of lead and monosodium glutamate in Maggi noodles have hit the sale of the noodle for some of the local retailers. For some, the daily sales have went down by half. However, kirana shop owners like Raju Gupta says, they don’t see any change in sales of Maggi during the last two days.

Being an easy to cook food item Maggi has gained the position of a staple food for many of the students and working youth staying out of home.

Maggi lovers seemed not too convinced with the alleged presence of lead and MSG in their favourite noodle. “I really don't care about the MSG in #Maggi! If they gonna ban it, tell me now so I can run and stock my kitchen with maggi for 2 years!” posted someone.
