Jet Airways and SpiceJet have agreed to partly clear dues of over Rs 250 crore that the two airlines together owe in unpaid airport charges to state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI). Senior officials in AAI said in a meeting on Monday that the management executives of Jet Airways and SpiceJet have agreed to make payments of Rs 80 crore and Rs 25 crore respectively to the authority by the end of the week.
“It was a meeting to discuss periodical account reconciliations and move towards centralisation of payments as part of AAI’s migration to SAP. Our payments are regular as per the agreed scheduled and our dues are well within the BG (bank guarantee) limits”, SpiceJet said in response to a query regarding the development. Jet Airways declined to comment on the issue.
