MphasiS appoints Jotwani as head of infra services

Announcement comes days after company appointed Rajeev Sawhney as president of strategic business

Mid-size information technology (IT) services firm MphasiS today announced appointment of Ajay Jotwani as the company's senior vice president and head of infrastructure services business. Jotwani joins MphasiS from Wipro, where he was the head of global infrastructure services for North America.

Jotwani, who will be a part of MphasiS' leadership team, will be based out of US and report to Ayyar.

The development comes just three days after MphasiS announced appointment of former HCL Technologies senior executive, Rajeev Sawhney, as the president for its strategic business.

“We are delighted to have Ajay head our Infrastructure business. The expertise he brings will help us expand our portfolio of services and provide innovative solutions to meet the evolving industry needs,” MphasiS' Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Ayyar said. “His experience in North America and other key global markets will open new avenues and accelerate the pace of growth.”

In an interaction with Business Standard last week, Ayyar had said that the Bangalore-based company is looking to inject fresh blood into its top-management team to help the company keep pace with the ever-evolving business environment.

“When you are not injecting fresh blood into leadership, you end up not knowing what you don't know,” Ayyar had said. “So you need to inject some external talent, which disturbs the chemical balance of the leadership team, which is healthy. We need to inject new talent because we will learn new things and better way of doing things. We are looking at hiring some top-level talent, and you may hear something from us next week.”

Over the past few months, Indian IT industry has seen movement of several senior-level executives to competitors.

In August, Sudhir Chaturvedi, Infosys' VP & head (financial services) in Americas steps down to join NIIT Technologies as COO, while Ashok Vemuri, Infosys' head of Americas and global head of manufacturing and engineering services resigned to join competitor iGate as its CEO.

Additionally, in October, Wipro veteran Anand Sankaran also quit to join personal computer maker Dell as president and global head of infrastructure services and cloud computing business.
