NALCO sets higher output target for 2011-12

National Aluminium Company (NALCO), India’s largest producer and exporter of alumina and aluminium, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, to increase its output of metals and electric power in the next financial year, a release from the company said.

In the MoU, NALCO has projected to increase bauxite production to 63 lakh tonnes and aims to achieve 21 lakh tonnes of alumina output target from its Damanjodi facility during 2011-12.

Metal production has been projected at 4.6 lakh tonnes and power generation is seen at 7,518 million units from its 1,200 MW captive power plant at Angul, according to the release.

 

B.L. Bagra, Chairman and Managing Director of Nalco signed the MoU with Vijay Kumar, secretary with Ministry of Mines, government of India, in the presence of Sundeep Kumar Nayak, joint secretary and other senior officials of the ministry and the company.
