Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) has despatched 2,684.8 tonne of steel billets to Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)'s IISCO plant at Burnpur (West Bengal) on last Sunday. NINL despatched the steel billets from its Kalinganagar plant through railway wagons for the first time. The steel PSU will send another consignment 11,352 tonne of billets to SAIL's Burnpur plant.
NINL has made record steel billet production of 6,130 tonne in May 2014, its best ever monthly output. Billets are used for the manufacture of all 'ong steel products such as bars, rods, pipes, tubes and wire products. Recently, the firm's ladle heating furnace (LHF) was commissioned. The commissioning of LHF is an important milestone for NINL.
