Orchid Chemicals back in profit in Q1

Orchid Chemicals Ltd. reported first-quarter standalone net profit of Rs 21.61 crore, compared with a net loss of Rs 29.76 crore in the corresponding quarter, a year ago. Total revenue, including other operating, increased to Rs 330.93 crore from Rs 308.83 for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.

On a consolidated basis, the company's first-quarter net profit was Rs 23.53, compared to a net loss of Rs 27.29 crore in the preceding year quartet. Total revenue increased to Rs 364.57 crore from Rs 332.79 crore in the year-ago quarter.
