SpiceJet has asked travel agents to remain patient assuring them the airline is not shutting down. SpiceJet's senior vice president and head of sales Shilpa Bhatia interacted with members of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) today to assuage fears about airline's possible closure.
"We have voiced our concerns to them (SpiceJet officials) and they have assured us that all refunds due to cancellations and waivers shall be granted looking at the situation. Till date all monthly incentives, refunds and credits have been given to the members. They have also stated that they are crediting monies back into the bank accounts of agents who are not desirous of selling tickets on SpiceJet. This however will happen only in a phased manner and not instantly. They have requested members to be patient and have desired support so as to recover from the present situation at the earliest, TAAI said in a statement to its members today.
Bhatia told the agents the reports about airline's condition were blown out of proportion and added that the financial crunch will not lead to the airline closure.
Going further TAAI, requests all members to take an individual informed decision while dealing with any airline. The Airline Council will update Region / Chapter Office bearers from time to time.
Separately the airline's chief operating officer Sanjeev Kapoor also apologised to all customers for the disruptions. "Apologies again to all our customers affected by our temporary ongoing challenges. We will do our best to win back your loyalty and support," Kapoor tweeted.
The sudden cancellations announced by the airline has dented customer confidence and sales have dropped. A travel agent pointed out refunds were being paid but there were delays. "There is a bit of uncertainty about their operations. Passengers are not getting timely response from the call centre and refunds are being delayed."
