Reliance Industries' (RIL) counsel Harish Salve today said the company will not oppose Anil group firm Reliance Natural Resources' (RNRL) plea, to be filed in Supreme Court tomorrow, for final hearing of petitions pertaining to a gas supply dispute between the two companies.
"I have nothing to say. If the court decides to hear it, why should I oppose," Salve told PTI.
The government too is unlikely to oppose the RNRL plea.
"No, we have no objection. Why should we oppose. Even the government would want an early hearing and early resolution of the matter," an official connected with the case said here on the condition of anonymity.
RNRL Chairman Anil Ambani earlier today told reporters that the company would tomorrow approach the apex court seeking final hearing on the matter on September one.
The company separately served notices in this regard on RIL and the Petroleum Ministry.
Salve, however, said that Anil does not have to go about creating public opinion - alluding to the allegations the younger Ambani levelled against Petroleum Ministry and RIL during the annual general meeting of RNRL yesterday.
Cross-appeals filed by RNRL and RIL, as also the government's petition in this matter are scheduled to come up for consideration on September 1.
