Sahara's SAT appeal adjourned to Feb 4

Group to clarify with SC if its appeal can be taken up by SAT

Samie Modak Mumbai
The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) today adjourned the hearing in an appeal filed by the Sahara group to February 4.

The Sahara group will on January 20 clarify with the Supreme Court whether the matter can be taken up by SAT.

Sahara has moved the tribunal over fresh proceedings initiated by Sebi against it.

Last month, SAT had asked appellant Sahara India Real Estate Corporation to clarify with the apex court on whether Supreme Court or SAT would be the appropriate forum to hear the appeal.

Sahara has already filed an application before the Supreme Court on December 21 seeking clarification on the same.

The matter had to be adjourned as we couldn't get the clarification from the apex court, said a counsel representing  Sahara.

In July, the Supreme Court had expressed its displeasure over Sahara matters being heard on other forums. It had ordered the transfer of matters pending before the SAT and the Allahabad High Court on the Sahara matter to the apex court.
