Welspun-Gujarat Stahl net jumps two-fold to Rs 165 cr

Saw pipe maker Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren today said its net profit jumped two-fold to Rs 165.1 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009, over the same period last year.

Sales rose to Rs 2,173.4 crore in the latest quarter ended September 30, against Rs 1,492.8 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal, Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

"In the current year the company's US subsidiaries have become material," the company said in a release.

Shares of Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren were trading at Rs 286.25 on the BSE, up 2.21 per cent from its previous close.
