Wheezal on expansion mode

Wheezal Laboratories Pvt Ltd, one of India's leading homeopathic companies, is expanding business by setting up a manufacturing facility in Dehra Dun and looking for business in Europe and other foreign countries.

In order to reap the benefits of the tax holiday scheme in the state, the Dehra Dun-based company is now setting up its second production unit at the new Pharma City at the Salaquie industrial area near here with an investment of Rs 5 crore.

The new unit is likely to start production next year, said the company's Director Sunny Gupta. The new unit will also consist of a testing laboratory and a research centre which are being set up with an investment of Rs 50 lakh.

With the setting up the new unit, Wheezal would increase its turnover to Rs 20 crore, Gupta said. "We will be producing syrups, tablets, ointments, mother tincture, dilution among other things," Gupta said.

Making a beginning in 1944 from Lahore, Wheezal moved its base in the wake of the 1947 partition to Dehra Dun where it set up its first unit in 1967. The company is now producing a wide-rang of products which include biochemics, homeopathic combinations, bio-combinations, dilution, mother tincture and hair care products.

"We will be shortly looking for more business in European countries like France and Portugal. We are also interested in expanding our business to neighboring states like Nepal and Bangladesh," Gupta said.
