Yahoo goes regional to woo users

To expanding its user base in the country, Yahoo! India has made available its portal in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi and Gujarati languages. While Yahoo! India has 30 million users in the country, globally has over 500 million subscribers.
 
Besides, the company has also launched the latest version of Yahoo!Messenger which will allow users to chat in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati.
 
The new Yahoo!India portal will provide users the latest happenings around the world in the language of their choice with a click on a tab.
 
"Innovation is the key driver for our product development to make Yahoo relevant to the next 200 million Indians who will go online in the next few years. This will add value and excitement to our users and advertisers," said George Zacharias, managing director, Yahoo! India.
