York Winery eyes 50% growth in sales this fiscal

To introduce 4 new brands in next 18-24 months
Nashik-based York Winery Pvt Ltd has set the target of selling 75,000 litres of grapewine in the current FY 2010-11. The company is also planning to launch four new brands in the next 18-24 month.
The company, which commenced production in the year 2008, is in the process of expanding its distribution network in domestic market. York Winery, which is located at Gangapur area of Nashik, has the production capacity of 1.5 lakh litres. Presently, the company is selling six wine brands in the market. Apart from six acres of its own vineyard, the company has around 90 acres of vineyards under contract farming in the region to source grapes.
“Presently, we are selling our wine brands in domestic market in Nashik and Mumbai. We are looking to expand our distribution in Pune, Goa, Delhi, Bangalore and other major cities, shortly,” Ravi Gurnani, Director, York Winery, told Business Standard.
“The company sold out 50,000 litres of wine in FY 2009-10. We have set the target of selling 75,000 litres of wine for the current FY 2010-11. We are planning to introduce four new brands in the next 18-24 months. We are launching a new brand late harvest Chenin Blanc this month,” he said
York is presently exporting its wine to the UK market under a different brand called ‘Mantra’. Some of the other export markets include the USA, Hong Kong and West Africa. The company exports 30 per cent of its total sales.
