Azam Khan resigns over stampede incident

Says he takes moral responsibility, sends resignation to CM

Taking moral responsibility of the stampede in the Allahabad railway station in which atleast 36 people were killed, Cabinet Minister Mohammad Azam Khan today resigned as the in-charge of Kumbh Mela.

"Though the incident took place outside the Kumbh Mela premises, I take moral responsibility and resign as the in-charge of the Kumbh. I am sending my resignation to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav", Khan told reporters here.

Khan said he was very upset due to the tragic incident as he had tried hard to make best arrangements for the Kumbh.
