The bandh call given by the students joint action committee, Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party on Wednesday was peaceful and partial in Visakhapatnam.
As volunteers staged dharnas in front of RTC bus depots in the morning, buses remained at depots in the morning but from afternoon they resumed operation normally. Andhra University students conducted dharna and rallies in and around the university. Lawyers organised dharna at the busy Jagadhambha junction and burnt effigies of Congress and BJP leaders. KGH doctors staged dharna at collector office junction and conduction rally up to Jagadhamba Junction. Eastern Power Distribution Corporation employees conducted rally from its corporate office to RTC complex, and staged dharna at all its substations in the five coastal districts.
Government and private schools remained closed. However, banks, petrol bunks, cinema halls functioned normally and private vehicles moved freely.
