After taking over investigation from a High Court-monitored Special Task Force in Vyapam scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation registered first two cases in pre-medical test 2010 and another in pre-post graduate examination 2011.
Meanwhile Congress has called a state-wide bandh tomorrow to press for their demand of Chief Minister’s resignation.
“Two cases have been registered by CBI first in PMT 2010 against 21 candidates under section 419, 420, 467, 471, 474 and 120B of Indian Penal Code,” a CBI spokesperson said.
Another case, it further said, has eight accused registered in the pre post-graduation examination 2011 under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of Indian Penal Code and MP Recognised Examination Act 1937.
CBI has registered another case in Vyapam scam against 28 named accused under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 read with 120 B of Indian Penal Code. This case pertains to illegalities in the Madhya Pradesh Pre Medical Test (PMT) 2009 and 2010.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu had on July 9 transferred the probe of all Vyapam cases, including related deaths, to CBI. Earlier STF was investigating the Vyapam scandal, which attracted wide criticism after death of a Delhi-based journalist Akshay Singh. More than 40 people died reportedly under mysterious circumstances.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the Muslim community has expressed its reservations since the call for Bandh may affect their preparations for Eid as shops and other business outlets would remain close.

The state in-charge and general secretary of the Congress Mohan Prakash has said the party was not forcing anyone to take part in Bandh, but all would be welcomed who want to participate in it willingly. “We are appealing for a peaceful Bandh,” the AICC general secretary said here while talking to reporters. He also added no Muslim leader has complained to him that the Bandh would affect Eid preprations.
A 40-member CBI team headed by joint director R P Agarwal had initiated process of investigation. Agarwal, a 1986 batch Assam-Meghalya cadre IPS officer, is posted as Joint Director, anti-corruption department, in the CBI.
