Congress MLAs in the Gujarat were suspended for the fourth straight working day on Monday for disrupting the proceeding of the Assembly demanding dismissal of two BJP legislators for allegedly watching porn in their I-Pad inside the House last week.
When the issue was raised in the house, the Speaker had ordered a probe into the matter by the privilege committee of the House and had got seized the I-Pad of the MLA and sent it for forensic examination.
However, the porngate controversy has refused to die down despite the Forensic Science Laboratory giving a clean chit to the ruling party MLAs with the main Opposition creating a ruckus, forcing adjournment of the House thrice. On Monday, the Congress MLAs wore black banners to the assembly with slogans emblazoned on them demanding dismissal of the two BJP legislators accused of watching obscene pictures.
Despite repeated pleas by Speaker Ganpat Vasava to remove the banners hung around their necks, the defiant Congress MLAs refused to oblige and chanted slogans in support of their demand, forcing the chair to adjourn the House thrice. When the house reassembled after the second adjournment, Minister of State for Legislative Affairs Pradeepsinh Jadeja moved a motion seeking suspension of the Congress MLAs for "disregarding" the Speaker. Jadeja said that despite a ruling by the Speaker and his repeated requests, the Congress MLAs had not removed the banners and moved a motion seeking their suspension.
