Data story: India logs 16,103 new Covid cases, death toll at 525,199

India reported an increase of 2,143 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 111,711. The country is twenty-fourth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On July 3, it added 16,103 cases to take its total caseload to 43,502,429. And, with 31 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,199, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,010,652 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on July 2, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,979,572,963. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,865,519 — or 98.54 per cent of the total caseload — with 13,929 new cured cases being reported on July 3.
