Thiruvananthapuram-headquartered Technopark would witness the Daan Utsav, the joy of giving week, which is India's 'Festival of Giving'.

Launched in 2009, the festival is being celebrated every year during Oct 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks of life to celebrate 'giving'. GTech, the industry body of IT/ITeS companies in Kerala, along with Technopark will introduce the 'Festival of Giving' among the IT community.

"The idea is to bring together every single member of the 40,000-strong Technopark community, thus making this the largest such event in India," said KG Girish Babu, chief executive officer of Technopark.

Ten big smileys passed around the campus would cover all the employees popularising the festival. A series of activities that provide opportunity for each one to involve, engage and contribute have been planned.

"The highlight of the celebrations would be different fund-raising programs which would involve fun-filled activities to attract participation. One such activity would be CEO-bashing where the employees will throw wet sponge balls at their respective CEOs who are seated in a chair, for a price.

The proceeds would go to charity," said Arun Raj, CEO of Orisys India.

The employees of various companies would join the kids from carehomes in pot-painting and other craft making, and then auction the products in the campus.

GTech would also conduct various events in the coastal areas in the city and bring the underprivileged to Technopark to participate in various programmes. GTech has already tied-up with several charity organisations for the celebrations.
